Nike One Tour D

Why isn't there more love for this ball?

I'm down to my last dozen TP Red LDP's and am looking for what I'm going to hit next (unless someone has some TP Red's they will make me a good deal on). Obviously I'm looking for something comparable to the Reds. Low spin and feels good off the driver, decent spin off the irons (without the excessive short iron and wedge spin), and decent check and spin around the greens. Tried Z Stars, Z Star X's, Penta's, Callaways Tour's, Gamer V2's, and numerous 2-piece balls including the NXT Tours, E5's, Diablo Tours, and Q Stars. So far the ball that I like the best is the Nike Tour D. However, I don't see a lot of postings about this ball and was just curious to hear what others thought of it. For me, so far it's been the closest thing I've found to the TP Red. And it's under $30. Don't care to pay more than $30.

Give me your thoughts about this ball or any other ball I may have overlooked that you think fits what I'm looking for. Thanks.

I'm one of the Tour D "fanboys" on this site! I've posted a number of times that I think it's arguably the best ball out there for the money, or maybe even the best ball PERIOD. I was fortunate enough to test the new 20XI line for WRX, but IMO the Tour D is as good or better. I didn't care for the 20XI-X, and the S was OK but not worth $45 a dozen when I can still get the Tour D at $20-$25 a dozen.

I have 2 dozen of the regular Tour D and 2 dozen of the red swoosh Tour D. It might be time to stock up before they become harder to find.

IMO one of the best balls on the market. And for the price, it just doesn't get any better.

Was in the exact same bucket as you, playing TP Reds as they were on sale, I was looking for more to no avail when i saw the great price on Tour D's. I bought 8 dozen of them since they are pretty cheap and a great ball for the price. Right now its my favorite Nike ball they've released, I also didn't care too much for the new 20-XI line.

A couple of places were blowing out the Tour-Ds last year for $20/dozen, but the stock is all gone now. One of the sponsors of this site was blowing out Cally iZs about 2 weeks ago for $20/dozen. I picked of 5 dz. They are comparable to the Tour Ds IMO, they shear a little worse from wedges, but they are softer off of the putter.

TM Black LDP is an awfully good ball, priced about the same as the Nike Tour D. I like both, the TM feels a little softer.

WhenI played the Tour D earlier this year my findings were that the ball was a bit firmer and had a bit less spin than I preferred. I've been using the Penta's since they're on sale now. For my tastes the Penta does just about everything right with very little compromise. In my area they're actually cheaper than the Tour D.

To your point about the Penta, it is about the closest thing I've found to the Tour D, but the Penta feels a bit softer. I was pleasantly surprised when I played the Penta recently after winning a 6-ball pack in TM's contest. I could definitely play that ball too. Both are excellent values at $20-$30 a dozen.

Love the Tour D, it's practically what I base all of my other golf balls. It's what I think a ball should be like, only 95mph swing speed or half wedge shots, they all seem to just stop. Pure hits off my irons and they go to the yardage and just stop on the green. Not fun when I lose them now because they'll be discontinued. Been trying Bridgestone B330 RX and Srixon Z-Stars in its place.

There are a lot of Tour D fans...I'm one of them. I've got 12 doz in my basement. If they go back again to 19.99, I'd probably snag another gross...It's a heck of a ball - at a heck of a price.

I know it is discontinued, but you should still be able to find them...and a few of our sponsors would probably match the Dicks price if you take a 6 doz...stock up...

I have wanted to like other balls, and have tried the Srixon Z Star, the Wilson FG Tours, Callaway iS, etc and I can't find anything that I like as much as the Tour D. I have about 5 dozen in my basement, and I'm done trying other balls. I think it could have a touch more spin around the greens, but it is really long, great in the wind, and putts well for a "harder" ball. GPPGolf.com sells the red logo balls for 19.99 w/o the sleeves.

I'm done trying other balls...this ball is fantastic and is my gamer as long as I can find them cheap.

As a matter of fact the last one I lost was because it came off the face of my 5 wood way too good from in the forest and over flew my layup zone by 20 yards. Couldn't see where it landed because of the trees in front of me and the launch angle. It took off like a rocket.

I hate losing balls because you hit them too well. Should have used the 4 hybrid.

Played 9 holes yesterday with the Tour D. Basically hit 2 or 3 balls off of every tee with a Taylormade Black and there was no difference in diatance between the two. Tour D felt just slightly softer. Good ball for the money.

Good ball got the money, but definitely lacking in short game control (chipping/pitching). Cant be beat for $20/dozen

i played a dozen in the beginning of the season, thought it was a good ball, it performed very well, pretty straight off the driver, spun good from 50 - 100 yards, 50 yards in it didnt spin enough but i write that off as my swing because every now and than the ball backed up a good 6 feet.. but that was a walmart sale i got for 19.99 when they were clearenceing stuff. they were still 39.99 every where else at that time. right before the F&F golfsmith sale they were 2 for 40.00, i bought 4 dozen, i have 2 dozen and 2 sleves left. during the F&F golfsmith sale they went back to 29.99 and havent droped since. i wish i bought more when they were 2 for 40. they are starting to disapear, i see lots of the tour one but not the D, the tour one went 24.99 for a few, but the D stayed at 29.99. i think to many shops visit these forums and price accordingly.

I tried both the Tour D and the One Tour last year, and wasn't fond of either. They bore a close resemblance in feel to their Bridgestone tour ball bretheren - I found them a bit too firm for my liking.

If you like the TM Reds, did you also like the 3-piece pre-LDP version (also sold by TmAG as the Maxfli C3)? Rumor has it that the TP Reds available at a Wally World near you are these balls.
