I would highly recommend people to try and find bells black note stout, it's as good if not better than kbs, it dropped here in michigan this week

Missed out on KBS. Will be getting my hands on some Mother's MILF next week which helps with the disappointment.

You guys in Michigan have it good. Founders, Bells, and Dark Horse....that's a lineup I'd love to live near.

Managed 5 bottles of KBS this year is all. Lowest ever pull.. Just getting crazy chasing it around, and honestly... I'm getting over the beer. It's good, but theres so much beer that comes out that just changes your taste and perspective that the rare stuff doesn't taste quite as awesome as last time.

I finally got some BCBS this year from some trades, and it's much better than kbs. BCBCS just blows all of it out of the water though.

Regardless- it was fun to get.

Got some Evil twin double barrel Jesus and some bourbon barrel imperial biscotti break to make up for the low kbs pull.

Also got some allagash midnight brett, and some more southern slice, a collab with terrapin and cigar city.

Missed out on Black Note though, never had it before. So if anyone wants to trade for some, I've got some good SE goodies. Lost Abbey, Bruery, Cigar City, Terrapin, Monday Night, etc.

What "rare" stuff should I be looking for out here in AZ?

If you get Firestone Walker, Parabola and sucaba are pretty highly regarded.

You probably get Lost Abbey, most of their limited stuff is seeked.

Shelton Brothers if they distribute you can get a bunch of belgian stuff. 3F and Cantillion.

I'm pretty sure you get Prarie.. Any of their stuff is good. Noir, bomb!, things like that

I only got 4 KBS so far. My local store said they will be getting 3 more cases this week. Turned out founders offered a deal if a store stocked up on the new can offerings they would send more KBS. So I should end up with 2-4 more.

I drank one of my 2014 kbs last night and would agree that Bourbon county coffee stout is slightly better but it is ahead of the regular bourbon county stout.

I heard it was the distributors who were offering that deal not founders. Who knows what the truth is. Regardless, if you end up with more KBS then you win. I did a side by side last year and prefer KBS to BCBCS but I seem to be in the minority.

Wasn't knockin' KBS.. I just think BCBS is everything you want in a coffee bourbon stout..

KBS's barrel note has slowly started to wain in the last 2 years.. it's getting lighter and lighter each year.. But it's a balanced and drinkable beer, so thats the allure I think.

You are correct. He did say the distributor now that I think about it. I remember they did something like this to make store take reds rye a while back.

Just bottled 3 of my 5 gallon batch, it's pretty damn awesome already, can't wait to see how it conditions and ages up. 2 gallons are still sitting on some bourbon oak, really excited for that one. Just wish I had keg equipment.

Any time you want to trade KBS for any of the hard to get BCS variants let me know. I have them and they are too cloying for my taste, especially in 750 format. I've got 5 BCS variants (3 Coffee, 1 Rare, 1 Rye) I'd part with in my cellar right now.

Tried some odd side bourbon barrel aged Citra pale ale tonight and really enjoyed it.

Heading to Grand Haven/Holland area in a few weeks. Can't wait for a solid weekend of Founders, Hop Cat and all the rest.

That looks awesome. I'm having a Russian River Temptation and it's awesome. It's my first time having it. I'm thinking of opening a can of Hop Drop and Roll next. That's a really good beer too.

Perrin looks good will stop there for sure. Rye wine sounds right up my alley.

Malted milk ball, black IPA, vanilla tonga porter and raspberry blonde are some of my favorites there.

Been dead here for a while. So I didn't make it to Perrin unfortunately. Did get to odd side and had their morningwood stout and pineapple Ipa. Morningwood is a coffee stout aged and bourbon barrels that was really good. Pineapple Ipa was ugh improved over last year. Tasted like the 2012 offering. However best part of the day there was the group of old ladies who came up to bar next to ask about bean flicker. They just kept saying it in almost every question to the bartender and the 6th grader in each of us there snickered everytime.

Founders had a few unique offerings. Cran cub was panther cub mixed with something I never heard of but it was really good. Also they had a firkin of double centennial Ipa with extra hops that stole day for me.

Founders just launched distribution here in AZ, so looks like I'll be able to score some of their limited stuff now.

Headed to Denver this weekend, I've been to most of the big name brewery's, looking forward to checking out TRVE and some other of the smaller guys. Renegade was one of my favorite spots last visit, they had some kick a** strong beers

Man, I've been drinking some great beers lately.

The Bruery tap takeover last night, loakel red was fantastic, as was sucre, and te other two I had, but at 16% I was hammered haha. They make some incredible beers, not sure if I'm into the sours though.

Hanger 24 hammerhead barrel roll #4 barley wine might be top 3 all time favs, tracked down 3 bottles but it's $20 each, not sure if I can do that. I'd be too tempted to drink them vs cellar.

Denver trip was fantastic, great old and great beer, went to 6 on sat alone
