I really enjoyed the American Beauty, but got blasted by someone the other day when I said it was a solid home run again for DFH. They said "it's ok...maybe a double."
To me it was well balanced and not so hop forward like some of their offerings. (And I get to try many of them being less than an hour from the mothership of DFH.)

I thought American Beauty was okay. A bit too sweet for a pale/IPA I thought.

If you guys like wheatwines... New Hollands got Pilgrim's Dole out. Bourbon barrel aged wheatwine. It's very good, and a nice slow sipper at 12%. Not overly boozy.

Just put down a Maine Mean Old Tom stout and let me just say that WOW, I wish I had more. Drinkable stout with a ton of flavor. Impressed.

Just got a Lawsons Double Sunshine and opening it tomorrow with my brother. Excited to see if it stands up to their maple and triple.

I'll be cracking a bourbon county coffee stout in a hour or so. Have a barley wine and regular stout still to go too.

Side note for metro detroiters is slows BBQ has expanded their drafts to 50+ and even had bourbon county and some other hard to find offerings. Founders curmudgeon being one especially since it is a spring release.

Slows tap list is awesome. I had Big Bad Baptist there a couple weeks ago. I did a Grand Rapids brewery tour today and hit Perrin, Brewery Vivant and Founders. Had great beers at all three. Founders had some awesome brew pub only beers.

Drinking some founders backwoods bastxxx on tap right now. Local bar at a golf course has it on tap. Delicious!

Best time of the year!! The beer releases are killin it!

Founders Imperial Stout is back.. Gonna stock up because I love it with a year on it.

Got some Boulevard Imperial Stout, partially BA'd and it's a gooooooood beer.

Lagunitas Sucks is back out and I am excited as heck. Drinking one now! Top IPA out there for an easy to find IPA.

Locally, I managed some Terrapin Cinnamon Roll'd Wake n Bake, some Monday Night Brewing has a new limited Bourbon Barrel Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale... Delicious. It will have a 93+ on BA once it gets rated up for sure.

Got some Cigar City collabs.. Black Ash, and Southern Slice that they did with Terrapin. Pecan Pie Dopplebock from CCB.

Bruery Rueuze is an awesome sour Blonde.

Gonna have me a couple Sucks, and then some CCB Jai Alai with my smoked chicken for dinner. Probably a Terrapin White Chocolate Moo Hoo for dessert!

I love Sucks. It should be hitting my area in the next week. How is the WC Moo Hoo and Cinnamon Wake and bake? They sound really interesting but I wonder if they would be too sweet.

I love this thread, I wish I would have found it before it had 500 post but it will be fun keeping up with it. The are so many good craft beers I've had in the last 6 months ( I buy a different 6 pack everytime I get one). I am also lucky enough to beer city USA (grand rapids, mi).

2.Petoskey Brewing Company-Stout(I can't remember the name of it but Treetops had it on tap)
3.Odd Side Ales-Black Citra Not So Pale Ale
4.New Holland Brewing Company- The Poet
5.???

I can't narrow down a 5th maybe Bells Christmas ale.

Sucks is drinking very good this year!

The WCMH wasn't much sweeter than the normal stuff. Had more sweet chocolate on the nose, had a slightly smoother, sweet vanilla taste to the beer. Lower carbonation made it a bit velvety in the finish. It was sweeter, but not cloying. Pretty close to the original but just more chocolate flavor.

The CrWnB was much sweeter. Cinnamon through the nose and the finish. Coffee is fantastic in their years batch, but it's backed down a bit in the cinnamon roll'd. Feels and taste like they added lactose or vanilla to it to get the icing taste to it. It's not bad, but the hype on it was through the roof.

Both beers were hyped pretty wild, being the 1st two of the series. They'll have some barrel aged stuff and some other special releases around 4-5 a year they said in 2014, so I'm excited to have some good local trade bait for some other beers!

You should hit up Founders soon. They have some awesome brewery only beers right now. Rogue Leader, The Chronic and the pilot brew IPL were all awesome.

A little off topic, but I finally started my first batch of homebrew last week, can't wait to get it all bottled up in a few weeks and move on to my 2nd batch. Just a standard pale ale, not my favorite but I'm assuming its a good learning beer before I move on to stouts and porters. Total n00b but I'm trying to learn, I really love beer haha

I have also been on the fence. My biggest problem is that I like to try different beers all the time and rarely drink the same thing two days in a row. If I brew then I will have a lot of the same thing to drink.

My setup is a 6.5 glass carboy primary, a 5 gallon glass secondary, and a plastic bottling bucket. I'll post up pics of my batch

I kind of in the same boat, but I love cooking and DIY stuff, so making beer seems fun. And it makes great gifts! Something cool about making it yourself, trying new stuff, and maybe striking gold!
