I have a brother in Athens, GA who is getting me into Terrapin Brewery. They make some solid beers. Right now I'm having a Hop Karma Brown IPA. It's a very balanced beer with a smooth, dark character masking some mild spiciness. I think it could use more than its 6.0% ABV (slightly greater hops:malts ratio is how I think of it) but I'm not complaining too loudly.

I went back to an old friend, the Left Hand Milk Stout, this past weekend and liked it so much I had another at the end of the night. Such a velvety texture to it, so interesting.
My brother and sister in law live in Gainesville, and have me hooked on Swamphead. Love getting a growler of Bignose and Midnight Oil when he visits..

LMK if you want to try other Terrapin stuff, I can get it really easy!

I'm gonna have an Allagash FV13 for the final round. Never had it before so I'm looking forward to it.
Hows was it?

I have 2 in the cellar... Pretty rare brew.
It was good but it didn't knock my socks off. For the record I am just getting into sours so I'm not an expert. More of a stout and ipa drinker. Anyways, it had a lot of vinegar taste to it, obviously being a sour you would expect some of this but it was almost too much for me. For the price and rareness I would much rather drink Russian River Supplication.

Has to be one of the best threads I have read in years! I love crafts. And I am getting a lot of info on some I have not tried yet.
A few of my favs are:
DogFish Head (the 90 minute, and Brown ale) I had a chance to try the 120, but at 12$ for a 12oz bottle I just could not do it.
Stone..
Flying Dog is great.
Two Hearted Ale
Hoppsecutioner
If Magic Hat counts... Then their seasonal are freaking amazing.
I am not sure about cider, but I had a few from N.C. that were so good!!
I am not a big fan of the 120 minute. So in my opinion its not worth the money. I like the 90 minute quite a bit though. Two Hearted is one of my favorite beers.
I have some 120 on hand.. 2010-2011 and 2012. I drink one every once in a while. It's not an IPA in my book, but merely a full body, boozy Barleywine wannabe.

The 90min is okay, the 60 is meh.. the 75min I think is the better of them, but I rarely get their regular stuff. I'll buy some of the 750's here and there to try.

Two Hearted is a great common IPA. All Centennial hops. Pretty tasty, easy drinking good executed Pale.
The 120 has become a unique animal. When it first came out in 2008-2009, it was absolutely phenomenal. A BIG BOLD IPA. It was amazing how well balanced it was. Now, fast forward to 2012 and 2013, and its just not the same brew. Like is said above, it's a hoppy barely wine, and not nearly as balanced. I have had both ends of this spectrum and its truly disappointing that the 2012 version was so off. I know Sam is using some local hops, but if you want to pull off the 120, it needs to be sourced better.

The Bitches Brew was killer too. Every one of them that I have had has been spot on. As well as the Black and Blue.

I've found the 60 to be a steady eddie in their stable. For what ever reason, not a huge fan of the 90. Nor the Squall, the unfiltered 90 minute. They occasionally have a cask or firkin of the 75 minute which is worth the trip to the brew pub!!!

I picked up a bottle of Doom and also picked up the Dark Horse Crooked Tree Variety pack. Really looking forward to trying these.

I love craft beer! I think of it this way, if I want to drink something that tastes like water I will drink water.

I am a hop head, my favorite styles ATM are double IPA(west coast style), IPA, Imperial Stouts, Stouts, and occasionally a Belgian.

Some favorite brewers of mine are Green Flash, Great Lakes, Stone, Sierra Nevada, Three Floyds, Founders, Southern Tier, Fat Heads, and Victory.

Anyone get some the latest release of Stone's Enjoy By? The 5/17/13 is drinking nicely!!

Been knockin back some good stuff lately.

Heady Topper, FV13, Wake n Bake, KBS, Backwoods bastxxx, Black OPs...

Drinking my rare beers for whatever reason...... good though.
I had some on tap last week, hoping they keep producing it. This is the 3rd batch I have had of the Enjoy By and has not disappointed. Also had some Green Flash Palette Wrecker(which is awesome) on tap right after the Enjoy By.

I drank a Hoppin' Frog Mean Manalishi Double I.P.A. and Hop Dam Triple I.P.A. last night.

post-242113-0-91603500-1367692241_thumb.jpg

All I can say is wow! The DIPA was excellent very balanced for 168 IBUs. The triple is a different beast, the IBUs are not listed it just says High IBU, but the bottle says that they used 50% more hops the then DIPA. I am a hop head and the triple is intense to say the least, and to say it is bitter is an understatement.

I highly recommend them both, if you love hops and can get your hands on them you must try them.

I had a couple new beers today. Oddside Ales Simcoe Sensation and Southern Tier Plum Noir. I liked both of them. Simcoe is a good session beer. The plum was surprising. I expected it to be a little too sweet but its not. It's a solid beer.

Yeah they just started bottling a couple months ago. Their Citra is awesome. They have some real solid beers. Now that they are starting to bottle I'm sure more people will think the same.

I got some Flower Power, Maine Beer MO and Peeper and Gandhi Bot sent to me. I really liked the Flower Power and Maine beers. I have just been trying to keep up with Shorts releases. Their bottled releases this year have been awesome. Looking forward to Dans Pink Skirt next week.

Beer, my favorite thing next to golf..New here and havent read the whole thread but my go to here in LA is always Pliny the Elder..Ranger IPA is always in the fridge along with Sculpin from ballast point..A new one hit recently from Golden Road brewing called Heal The Bay IPA which is fantastic as well..as you can see I'm a big IPA fan..outside of those it's hard to beat Victory Prima Pils which IMO is the finest pilsner out there..As far as real local beers here go I love most stuff put out from Strand Brewing ( 24th street pale ale) is excellent and El Segundo brewing offers up some great ales

Well even though two hearted ale is not quite the same it once was it is still wonderful.

And the odd sides citra is a good drink. Itw ever go to wine palace at 96 and middlebelt? Best selection in the area.
No I've never been to Wine Palace. I get the majority of my beer from Holiday Market in Royal Oak. They have an awesome selection and the best prices. Their beer guy is really good too.

I had the best saison I've ever had: Saison Dupont. Those who know this style won't be surprised since it's one of the standards of that style. It smells like a bottle of weed when you pop the cork, reminiscent of Pilsner Urquell in that regard, and has a light body despite a decent 6% ABV. To me saisons are a better version of a hefeweizen: similar in body and spice profiles but slightly more crisp and higher in alcohol. Like hefeweizen it is a very diverse style, and Dupont's blew me away. The fact that it comes in a 750mL champagne-looking bottle with a cork doesn't hurt either.
