Fort was awesome!

Picked up two bottles of the new Avery vanilla bean bourbon stout, first sip is freaking great, right up my alley. I love vanilla, love bourbon, love stouts. 22oz bomber @11% for $10. Bought two and I'll buy more

I'm always wary of trying a stout with too many additional flavors, especially something like vanilla, but Victory at Sea was solid. Never had a vanilla bourbon stout, but it sounds excellent.

On a related note, I tried the Stone Chai Stout last year and it was freaking gross.

Actually, can anyone suggest another good Scottish/Wee Heavy for me to try? I've already had Backwoods, Dirty Bastage, Old Chubb, etc. Can't think of the other ones I've had, which probably means they weren't memorable. Tried a Kings Mountain from Heritage Brewing and that was awful.

Go straight to the source! Try Bellhaven 90. (Unfortunately we can't get Odell's 90 schilling on the east coast.)

Stone is one of those that try to do too much sometimes... They have some really amazing beers and some wonderful collaborations, but some of their stuff will make you say what were they thinking? Exhibit A and B Crime and Punishment. :bad:

Yeah, Stone and Dogfish sometimes explode way outside the envelope. At least they are on opposite coasts and not fully trying to one-up each other all of the time.

Good point, there was an entire Scotland import section at Total Wine, I was just too overwhelmed to look through it all.

Barely 10 am on a Wednesday, I'm in the office, and already plotting a trip to the booze store on the way home... this is almost worse than one of those covert Golfsmith stops or range sessions between running errands.

Looks like Belle Haven and more Nugget Nectar are on the list so far...

Is it bad that the Kroger beer and wine manager called me yesterday to let me know my Hopslam would be delivered tomorrow at 10am... now to just plot my early lunch plans to get there on time!

This is what happens when you're persistent in calling them.... in the end, they will call you!

I did that with a Harris Teeter down in NC when I was waiting for BCBS.

And add Hop Slam to my list, if I can find some.

Prob won't chase it too much but hopslam and pinnaple sculpin hitting shelves. Might run out tomorrow and see what i can pickup.

I'm curious on the Avery vanilla bean stout. I've read mixed reviews but at the pricepoint it's at even average will be good.

Good list now, thanks.

Tried this tonight, very impressed. Only 5.2% but still very rich flavored and smooth (but not quite Boddingtons smooth), almost no aftertaste too, which was interesting.

I've had 2 of the higher maths. One the weekend I got it and it was nice. The other a few weeks ago, and it was totally different. Not sure why or how, but if you had one like my second, I fully understand the ire towards my recommendation.

And Bellhaven has a Best ale in Scotland they don't export. Between the Scottish ale and boddingtons. Very drinkable, multiple times!!!!

Do you say, "sul-pin" or "skull-pin"

Was waiting in line to be seated at an Italian place couple weeks back and ordered a Skull-pin IPA for the wait and the female bartender did what she should've never done and corrected me saying a "Sul-pin?" I've never heard it pronounced Sculpin with a silent C. Next time maybe I'll just say give me one of those damn Ballast Point IPAs! :D

The bartender has issues with "SC" or something because she is flat wrong!!!!!
