Maruman Curtis Strange

Has anyone in this forum had experience playing the Maruman CS blades? I recently bought a set and am falling in love. They are in great shape for a club made in the early 90's. Just looking for insight into these sticks. Thanks.

Curtis Strange was the #1 player in the world having won 2 US Open's in a row. That in itself is probably one of the hardest things to do in professional golf. Not even Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus have done that. After being on top of the golf world, he switched to Maruman and was never the same. Having said that, Maruman used to make some of the finest golf clubs in the world and were quite pricey back then.

According to what I have read on WRX and elsewhere, these and other Maruman offerings of that era were forged by Miura for Olazabal, Woosnam and Strange among others. They were all expensive at the outset. I purchased my CS1 irons after Curtis had moved on to another company and Edwin Watts had them in their catalogue under $400.00. I fell in love with the looks but not the performance until I replaced the TT S400 shafts. All the difference in the world (for me).They were terrific. I played them for over two seasons and shot some of the best rounds of my life. I again have Maruman irons....three sets.... but sold the Curtis Strange model to a friend.

I could be wrong about the timing but I recall Macgregor made a commemerative set of irons for Curtis in the early 90s. VIP 1-PW, 1000 numbered sets. About the time they were released, he moved on to (I think) Titleist, where he remains.

Laura Davies of the LPGA played them. I'm told their drivers are "bombers". I remember MacGregor releasing a limited and number stamped set for Seve Ballesteros.

favourite irons of all time. then again i loved the maruman conductor 31 and 41 ex too. They are so forgiving. Had s400s in them. They must have been soft stepped. Really well made.

I'm going through this dilemma right now. I have up for Sale my 2009 tour preferred irons. I love them. Regret even putting them up before there even sold. Sad

Anyone have info on these irons? I can't find anything online about them. Hosels are stamped 0CS01 and the wear patterns are pretty tight.

Well, I guess I didn't look hard enough. Getty has a pic of him using this model, does anyone know if it was a standard model?

They are not the retail CS-1 (have those), those were his. Miura made.
