I'm looking forward to this year, as I enjoyed 12's addition with the Master's. No offense to Tiger, but in my opinion, I'd rather EA move away from him and have a more general "PGA Tour". I would like to see more freedom in golfers and equipment/apparel. I enjoyed Rickie & Bubba, and am looking forward to Dustin, Rory, Hunter, and Graeme. I'm neutral on Tiger so I'm not really interested in the "Legacy Challenge" mode, but I guess true Tiger fans will be.

Does anyone have any information on if there will be a demo out there for xbox/ps3?

I'm really disappointed in the Kinects ability in this game - It's tracking system is waaaaaay off track.
Great premise just needs to sort kinks out and somehow work for a true 1:1 input.

Wii's Tiger a couple years back was better.

I have Kinect Sports golf and i am more impressed with that - here's hoping that the full game will be better.

Tried Kinect. It's very unnatural and awkward. Looking at screen as you take shot borders on straining your neck. It's a good attempt but a limitation of the Kinect system. If you faced like an actual golf swing it would be a winner. Sadly it's not and it falls short. I was surprised by how responsive it was and nearly instantaneous in the motion you make and how quickly it's reflected on screen.

Played the Xbox version today. I haven't played regularly since the '09 version. Not been a big fan since then, but I have to say, I'm REALLY impressed with this one. The animations finally look right! The players models seem to be getting worse though! Definitely will pick it up.

Played it on xbox last night and all golfers still have the generic swing. I just dont get why they cant have their own authentic swing. Every other sports game does this for the most part. It seems like such a simple thing to incorporate and imo it ruins the game for me. I believe they even uses authentic swings in older versions of the game.

I played the kinect version last night and won't be playing the game while using the kinect. I have to say i was very impressed with the graphics of the 2013 installment. I'm going to play the game tonight using the controller and will probably pick up the game if i am satisfied with how it plays with a controller. I bought the 2012 version and all the courses, so i really don't want to buy 2013, however if it plays better than last years version then i'll definitely bite the bullet and get this years version.

Played the demo on PS3 last night with a controller. At first, I hated the putting. Every time it would go flying way past the hole and I couldn't find a feel for it, but after playing it for a few hours, I learned how to get that feel for it and now I think it's fine.

I usually play on Tournament mode in these games but I only did TOUR Pro last night to get a feel for the new game first.

Overall, I liked it. The new swing mechanic and strike meter is very neat. And, don't forget, you can hit the square button to change the shot TYPE...pitch, punch, flop, chip, full.

Also, the aiming marker is automatically set to carry distance. So If a lot of you are overshooting your shots, it's because that marker it where the ball will first hit the ground, not where it will stop. So you can either take that into consideration, or go into the settings and change the marker to total distance.

Overall, I'll rate the demo 8.5/10. At first I thought it was awful, but it was just because it felt so different from previous games. Now I'm starting to like it.

I'm pretty bummed they aren't continuing with Wii, but I understand the reasons. I bought one two years with the sole purpose of playing TW11, so I guess I'll have to switch between 11 and 12 for the foreseeable future. I can't wait to be out of grad school and making actual money for these things.

2k sports nba games have hundreds of different looking jump shots. hell, even madden has different qb throwing motions. i have been waiting for 2 things in the tiger franchise and still havent gotten them.
1. different swing types
2. ability to tee the ball somewhere other than the dead center of the tee box. (shouldnt be that hard)

on a side note, has anyone found chipping on tour pro and tournament to be difficult? do i need to hold the strike meter down a little or what? i keep skulling it.

also very excited about the ocean course being on the demo too! was a caddy there for 3 years and can say that the first 3 holes look un-f***in-believable!

MLB the Show can d near nail the majority of the players stances and swings so there is no reason that this golf game couldn't be better. EA just doesn't put the money and resources in it because its not the revenue machine the Madden or other games are.

[/quote]All of that is in 12 for the PS3 also. The aiming marker for carry distance is my preferred choice because it will show if you can carry the bunker, or for doglegs know if you can get it to the fairway. If it was total distance, you're just guessing, taking unneeded risks.

6 extra courses (PGA National, Whistling Straits, Oakmont, Pinehurst No. 2, The Old White TPC, and the Augusta National Par-3 Course) and a Green Jacket presentation when you win the Masters and access to the practice facilities there as well.

It's has to come down to a cost/profit type of decision. Unless people are not buying the game because of the lack of authentic swings, I doubt they feel the need to add. I'll probably end up still purchasing the game, just at a later time when its discounted. BTW - if Tiger Woods 05, was backward compatible for the 360, I'd still be playing that (still own my copy, but not an original xbox anymore). I believe they had some authentic swings in that version. Plus it was just all around well done. But I do agree, even other EA games have authentic movements, basketball for sure, and I even think football. In Madden I believe the quarterback throw animations are authentic.

Haven't bought once of these since the '07 edition when I basically grew out of video games. I might consider buying a 2nd hand games console and last years game so I can get to play Augusta on the cheap

PGA Tour Pro for the PC has authentic swing animations. It came out in '97 so it might be a little dated.

I wish another company would make a golf game and put some pressure on E.A. There's no reason there can't be a golf game on the level of MLB: The Show. That is one of the most perfect sports games I've ever played.

Regardless of which one you use, there is a second, smaller arrow that shows you the landing spot (if set to stopping point) or the stopping point (if set to landing spot). It just matters which one you want to see bigger.

I think the country clubs are pretty cool concept and the new swing technique is much better in my opinion. You actually have to account for downhill/sidehill and swing differently for draws/fades. It's just more realistic. Also note you can bring your golfer from 12 to 13 with up to 75k XP so you don't have to start from scratch.
