Player Height vs Putter Length

I'm 5'8" don't know my wrist to floor, but I like to use a 34 inch putter. 33 just feels so short.

Don't know my wrist to floor and I'm 5'11". After having a putter fitting I use 33.75" putter length and 2* flat and 4* loft on my TM Daytona.

I'm 6'5", and I just started (in the summer) to use a 39" belly putter - but as a normal putter - end up choking down about an inch - feels much more natural, and is very heavy - love it, and would recommend for anyone tall.

I'm 6'1, Wrist to floor, 36 inches, putter length 34 inches. It seems better for me to control and gauge the speed of putts. I like being closer to the ball.

Guys, when you are measuring your arms to floor measurement, where do you measure from? Is it from fingertip to floor, from center of palm to floor, and, are you in your comfortable putting stance, or standing upright?

 

Standing upright, my length from fingertip to floor is 29"

In putting stance, my length from fingertip to floor is 26"

 

There's a catch, I'm 6'6", and I have amazingly long arms. My dressshirts are 17 1/2 neck, 39 sleeve.

So now you see my problem. Being so tall and gorilla-like, do I still use a longer putter, like a 36", or go with a shorter 34-35"? I putt better with a 35" than a 36", which is probably the determining factor. But I just wanted you guys' opinions. Any help would be much appreciated (cool)

I'm 6ft 3" and I've always bagged an Anser style Scotty, Ping or Yes in 35".

Recently switched to a 34" and my putting has improved dramatically - I feel that I put a much truer roll on the ball...just a feeling, but I won't go back to a longer putter (cool)

BTW, it is a TM Rossa Corza!

I'm just over 6'1" and I use a 36" putter. I grip down about 3/4 inch though.

I'm 5' 10", my wrist to floor is 34" inchs (lol, I'm standard/standard in almost all clubs for a static fit (cool) makes buying easy)

 

Anyway, I use a 34" putter and choke down abou a 1/2" - 1", I prefer a 33" putter but if I have a long putt to make like 40', I will stand more upright and then the 33" isn't long enough.

im about 5'11" and 3/4 almost 6'0"...i used to use a 34" newport mid slant cameron and now have a 35" circa 62 #3. It took me a while to get used to the extra inch but now i think its the way to go...probably get a better pendulum with the 34" but for some reason i seem to push my putts to the right...I think the 35" helps me get my putts on line better and after much practice just seems like the right length for me

I'm 6"1 with 34.5 inches wrist to floor. Yet I use a 35" Rossa that I choke down on. I probably should cut it. I'm really crouched over the ball and the choking makes this light putter feel even lighter.

I've tried shorter, but it was hard on my back when practicing for long periods.

I'm 6'3", and over the last year I've realized that I putt best when I putt by blading my 60* wedge. So I've recently built a putter that has the same length as my wedge, when I put the sweetspot of the putter at the same spot above the ground that the edge of the 60* wedge is - makes for a putter just under 36"

Measure from the crease of the wrist (basically where your arm and hand meet). Wear normal shoes and measure while standing on a floor that is flat (concrete, tile, etc.). Stand with a 48" rule under your arm and with your shoulders level and arms hanging freely, have someone else measure where the crease is. You could do it yourself, but it's best to have someone else do it so you make sure your shoulders are level.

 

As for what putter length you need, it all depends on what putting stance you have. You might be tall or have long arms relative to your legs but still need a short putter because you crouch over like Arnold Palmer or you let your arms hang very low like Phil Mickelson. Or, you might have short arms but have a very upright stance and would be better off with a longer putter. Start with the stance and use what feels best from there.

 

Personally, at 5'9" and a 34.5" wrist to floor measurement I always used to use a 32.5 inch putter with a bent over stance. Now, I'm standing more upright and I use a 34.5 inch putter.

 

If you know you putt better at 35 inches than 36, stay at 35--there's nothing unusual about that.

That probably has more to do with when you use the wedge to putt with, you lose the handsy stroke. Using a wedge takes out the need to hit the putt with your hands - good for practice.
