Softest Putter Available?

What is the softest feeling putter you can buy?

The odyssey white hot is pretty soft.

I would have to say the STX line, especially the Impressionist series. the whole face as you can see is just a pad of soft rubber. I could get no distance feel with this one at all. Made a Rock Flite feel like an old Prestige. LOL

Check out the STX putters. They have interchangable rubber inserts on the face.

try this exercise with your foursome next time.

 

take several different putters and blindfold each person and give them a 6 foot putt and interchange putters with them and ask them to tell you which is the softest and which putter was which.

 

you will find out that very few can tell the difference, UNLESS they can recognize the sound.

If you want a soft feel with the click of metal, the Bobby Grace putters (Mi, M2, Amazin Grace) with the copper insert are 10% softer than carbon steel.

 

If you like soft with a metallic feel, try those. If you like soft and dull, try a nonmetal insert.

 

Personally, I prefer carbon steel.

The STX is without a doubt the softest (too soft ;) ), The Amazing Grace (red HSM insert) is the best feeling soft faced putter I've tried.

I remember a while ago in a pro shop, there was a cobra putter, is it the fat lady sings? It was the softest putter ive ever experienced, by a large margin. The top flite practice balls were like tour balatas

A friend of mine has an old model with the black insert, it's imposible to make a put with that thing (except for him !). Really to soft (you dont even know if you touch the bal or not !!!!!).

If you want a soft feeling putter look at the Heavy Putter. I have an Odyssey White Hot #1, SRT 2 Ball, and a Heavy Putter. Due to the weight in the head of that thing, it is soo smooth.

 

Also, I would look at the ball you are using. An HX Tour/Pro V1/Nike One is going to make the putter seem alot softer than say a Maxfli Noodle.

The Cameron TEI3 is a super soft insert.

I would say try the White Hot. The most pleasant feel/sound I have found in a putter. My Newport 2 has a German Stainless Steel insert and that stuff has no softness to it at all.

I have a Yes! Callie that feels quite a bit softer than a White Hot. I can't imagine what the forged Yes! Callie must feel like since I read that it's even another level softer... Too soft for me.

 

So for the all metal category, I nominate Yes!

The Wishon Smooth 6 is the softest putter I have ever used.

I've tried putters with inserts that felt like mush to me and I was propelling the ball. I think you can have too soft a putter too. I've found 100% carbon putters to have the best "soft" feel. The TeI3 and coppers inserts were pretty good too.

The softest putters ever have to be the Cobra Bobby Grace line from about 10 yrs. ago..the ones with the yellow insert that was unbelieveably soft. Used to have the cute kid model but lost it somehow, sure wish I could find another one to mess around with.

I used to have Fisher Golf putter with the green insert - it was super soft.

 

However, if you want to get a metal putter with a nice soft feel you can't look past a TP Mills in Carbon Steel.

 

Have used mine twice and all I can say is OMG this putter is AWESOME..!!!!

I have read on this forum that the Yes! Callie Forged is extremely soft. I haven't tried the Callie Forged myself but I do use the Callie and I'd say it's pretty soft.

The callie-f is the softest forged putter I've ever felt. Unfortunately, the greens I play on are too slow and I'm about to ebay it.

The Yes and Guerin Rife putters do feel very soft due to the heavy grooves - the ball makes contact with less surface -- my opinion is that the does not make the putter feel as solid as a carbon steel or copper insert putter.
