I did not. I ended up playing both days instead of going to the demo day.. I surely would have blown more money that I didn't need to if I had gone. Did you go and if so, did you pick up anything?

Me and my buddy had been planning for months to go, but I ended up playing all weekend too. My buddy did go and mentioned he might of thought he saw you. He said he saw a guy bringing some serious heat with the driver, and was playing....I believe he said 915 d2, with a Rogue with a SS of around upper hundred teens and the rep asked his handicap and the guy said a 4. So I guess it wasn't you then.

I'm glad I didn't go cuz I'm pretty happy with my bag right now....well very happy. If anything changes it'd be my driver back to the 460. I'm getting the flight I want from the 430, and it' hits the ground running. So it's definitely longer. I just need to get more on the range and course to get my swing back to what is was then decide which one to go with.

The one thing my buddy has been talking about was how good the Srixon 745 looked. He said it's the best looking driver he's seen in awhile.

Forget the bunkers and water; last Saturday (the 18th) was close to unplayable over there. I was practicing and decided it wasn't worth playing at all. Played Friday and Sunday there in much more enjoyable conditions. Greens at National are the best I've ever seen them this early in the year. The Super snowblowed (by hand, not plow) them (!!!!) in early March. A calculated risk that looks to have paid off. Make sure you use those vouchers; the discounted rates are a great deal this year with the course in as good shape as it is. Last year we had severe winter burn on several greens and even by fall they hadn't come all the way back; totally different story this April.

well, with as windy as it was I had 4 birdies on the day at national. nearly drove the #9 green and drove it over the creek (290 carry) on 10. made birdie on both of those holes. had a 7 iron left into the par 5 10th....and was probably close to a club long. to give you an idea on how brutal the wind really was that day, 11 was like 350 yds... I hit my 3 hybrid which is like my 215-220 club off the tee... and hit it again into the green. hit the green and managed to 2 putt for par. had a couple bad holes... the 13th and 18th kicked my tail. took a horrendous 9 on the 18th hole and ended up posting an 87 for the day. not a fantastic score overall but really only a couple bad blow up holes. otherwise id be around 77-79 which is my average. we played so everything hit the bottom of the cup so no gimme's. Kaluhyat at Turning Stone Monday... CAN...NOT...WAIT.

No doubt it's a track you can make birdies on, but it tends to be more penal on misses than most other courses in the area. Especially on a day with wind like you had. Enjoy Kaluhyat, another nice layout.

Played my last tune up today before the tournament. 18 holes at Van Patten golf club. 6133yds. Par 72 layout. Course was still in pretty tough shape from the nasty winter we had. Fairways probably hadn't been mown yet.. Greens were slow as death... Etc...you get the idea. Had a rough start shooting 44 over the front 9. 4 three puts on these slow greens and a lost ball on the par 3 6th hole contributed to that debacle. Perfect drive up the 8th and 9th only to be foiled by putts that wouldn't drop... Anyways on to the back 9. Faired much better. Shot an even par 36 with one birdie and one bogey. Game is tidying up nicely for being so early in the year.
So in summary..
I hit 13/18 greens in regulation, and 9/14 fairways with 39 putts (22f,17b) and shot 80...

had a real rough go at the nysga tournament. cold, windy, occasional sprinkle of rain and it all added up to my highest score posted in 3 years... not good.
that being said, ive played 36 holes since the tournament at a combined +4. A 75 and a 73 respectively at 2 separate courses. one at about 6400 yds and one shorter one at about 6000 yards but very tight.

The Ap2's have been amazing this year. I thought I was going to have a difficult time adjusting from my 712MB's to the 714Ap2's and its been fantastic. some of the best iron play ive had in years. putting needs a little work, but i've chalked a bit up to super slow and bumpy greens early in the season. after playing Saturday at a local club tournament and winning (by 8 shots I might add) I feel on smoother greens my scoring should improve drastically.

Do you normally play white or blue tees when you play? Also what do the NYSGA tourneys usually play for total yards? I think it'd be fun to try and play in one of these. Obviously me winning, or probably finishing in the top half is out of the question but just playing in a real stroke event would be a lot of fun. Lastly do these tournaments require conforming grooves?

EDIT: is your bag the 9.5 or 10.5? I just grabbed a 10.5 off EBay, should be here next week.

The tournament I won was at airway meadows in gansevoort. Has been my home club for the past 4 years. I just didn't purchase a membership this year.

As far as what tees I play it really depends on who I'm playing with.. I prefer something in the 6500yd range usually. The nysga events are all in the 6100 yd area and scored both gross and net.

Oh and my bag is the 10.5" top cuff as well!

I've had a couple rough tournaments as far as the NYSGA amateur series goes. Both kaluhyat, and Albany country club have beaten me up pretty good. managed to play a couple rounds since the Albany tournament and have managed to shoot 75, 72 and an even par 36 for 9 this evening. I switched up putters away from the x5r which for some reason has not worked out as well as id hoped for me. ive now got a scotty Newport TeI3. 34.5" black oxide and shes been beautiful. I feel like ive finally gotten comfortable with the clubs in the bag and my scores have been reflecting it.

Do you think it's the toe hang your getting from TeI3 vs. the face balance X5r?

TeI3 pics will follow this evening. I'd look pretty silly going out to my car at work to take pictures of the putter. as far as if its due to the toe hang or not, I dont know, but I don't think so. I've been using a face balanced putter for years with my Squareback #2, but for some reason I just haven't been getting along with the X5r. I made the switch to the TeI3 and magically the putts started dropping. I finished out my 9 hole round last night going birdie/birdie/birdie to shoot even with a combined 16' of putts.

been a long time since i posted in here. been trying to focus more on game improvement than equipment improvement. bag has remained 99% intact all season swapping putters in and out at random. handicap is holding steady at a 5.6 right now but not many practice rounds lately. work has managed to get in the way of my golf game. nys mid am qualifier is coming up on 9/2. 95 entries. top 30 and ties make it. should be interesting. rather short course at only 6310yds but alot of tight doglegs. might just leave the driver in the bag. we shall see.

Any chance of upgrading the AP2 716? I traded my set of Scratch irons for a set AP2 710 with Steelfibers i95 and love them but have been thinking of the 714-716. So definitely interested to hear what you might be going to from the 714.

I am scheduling a full bag fitting from the Manchester Lane Titleist tour facility and will go with whatever works best. My last round of the year I shot 77 and was -2 on the front. Fell apart on the back 9.

Ideally I'd like to go.with a set of the T-MB's with a 2i, 4-pw then 54 & 58* wedges. We shall see how the fitting process goes.

Titleist 716CB's 5-pw 3*upright coming with my trusty KBS Tour Stiff in them! 714 AP2's served me well this year but alas, on to newer and better..

The 712U 4i will be going by the wayside and will be replaced with the 716 T-MB 4i as well.

Last but not least I'm picking up a 716 T-MB 2i (+1/2", 1* strong, 3*up) with a C-Taper S+ softstepped 1x

major changes all over the place!!! lovin it!
