Update George..I was wrong Harry said...This is the actually the only one of these there is. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Chris--

Thanks for posting these. In your initial post you mentioned most of these grips were prototypes, but later you said you have the only untanned one currently in existence. Do you know if Harry is considering producing more of the "in the blue" non-dyed grips? I think it looks pretty sweet and it sounds like others are feeling the same way too.

Thanks-

Todd

I honestly don't know. I know this one was an experiment he did. I'll call him tomorrow though and get you an answer...even though I see him lurking at the bottom here. LOL

He's doing alot of testing of different combinations of colors to see what strikes the publics eye best right now.

Gripmaster is looking really good, I still have to try my Golf Pride durometer grips on my irons, but on the flatstick, I am really considering going with Gripmaster

Rich

Hey Rich,

You know which way my vote goes. LOL Definately worth the money IMHO and I doubt you will ever go back to rubber grips after this

Rich - do it. Best putter grips. PERIOD. Just read the install instructions twice.

Drew, I am probably going to have someone else do it for me (you know who you are!!!) I will have to comply with the pressure, as soon as they get my color grip, I will have to buy it.

Chris, I know your vote!! only reason I am not going to get the irons regripped with GripMaster because I just bought the durometers(BTW, how are they doing? :kewlpics: ;) ) and I need to try them out. how is the feel differant from the winn AVS on the putter grips?

Chris,

I hope you don't mind me jumping into your thread, but I am also a big fan of the GripMaster line. They are a little more expensive but worth every penny. My grips neve slip whether in the rain, or very humid days. They always feel great, and seem to last forever.

The other side of the coin, in my opinion, are the people at the company. When you deal with them on their website they treat you like an old friend. Absolutely a first class company all the way. I can't say enough good things about everybody at GripMaster I have had the pleasure of dealing with.

Chris I am so glad you finally got those, I thought I was going to have to drive to GA and deliver them myself. The tracking was showing "out for delivery" for the last two days.

LOL. You and me both. I don't know why it takes them soo long to deliver. I only like ve 10 minutes from them. LOL Yall are the best.....but you already knew thatt

Hey Kevin...

HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!! just kidding. LOL ;)

You are absolutely correct. It doesn't matter if you are a 1st time customer, or a repeat customer. They always treat you like a friend and work with you.

I've yet to have a problem with anything I've gotten from Harry or James. I play a TON, and I find the leather grips just last soo much longer than any rubber grip I have ever tried. One thing i really like is that the grips kinda wear to youuur hand. You know you are always gripping it the smae way. Just a wonderfull grip. Can't say that enough

Okay - I've had a GripMasters for a while on my putter and one on my 5 wood and I decided I will do my whole set.

Here are my normal specs with GP:

.580 round over .600 diameter shafts

extra wrap under right hand

I like black and tacky. I play in all conditions and especially when it is humid in DC in the summer.

What say you, you GripMaster gurus?

Definitely order the .600 inside diameter grips. The don't stretch much unless you un-wrap them and install the underlisting seperately. (I had to do that on an old Taylormade with the "funky" butt diameter). You said that you tried one on your 5-Wood? I really don't think you need the extra wrap myself......

drewspin,

1. how do they compare to winn avs? try this poke a pencil in a styrefoam cup then tap a ball with the cup. Now, tap the ball with your pencil. which one do you like?

2. what i recomend. if you play with a glove get the gmro58. if not then gmro58p. the perf feels just a bit tackier at first touch. do not use the 2nd wrap under your right hand. that is an old clubmaker trick to take the taper out and reduce right hand in the swing. Very common on the tour. why because there is too much taper in rubber grips. our grips taper from the butt but the last 3 inches are almost parrallel. that is why we call them the "pro standard".

3. i play in the houston texas area. you cannot find more humid conditions and smooth or perforated nothing (nothing) performs or will last with gripmaster.

Thanks Harry. Good info.

I've never played any flavor of Winn grips -- the ones I've tried felt far too spongy. When I played more frequently, I used GP Tour velvet cord, but I use tour velvet now and change more frequently (it's easier on the golf glove budget).

I usually do play with a glove, though with the GM's I may choose not to.

Exactly right - I use the 2wraps under the right hand to reduce the taper and make it a bit more constant.

Is there any difference in the durability between the perforated and smooth? Takier is good - probably go with the perf.

I'm thinking I will switch over to the air install, which I have never done before. Is there a particular nozzle that folks here like?

why not try both the perf and the smooth. (i like the smooth better. sometimes i feel like a glove and sometimes i don't. glove will last and last.) then you will know what you like. i use the star air nozel. btw, nice grip almost as good as our synthetic. you can see a how to on air install at www.brassgolfballs.com

Hey sarg1948,

This is a little off topic, but where do you play in Houston? I moved here from Utah but can't find a good course here for a decent price. Maybe its just because Utah golf is so cheap. Any suggestions on good courses here? I live in Spring.

Mike

mike,

best spring area club period is "woodforest at fishcreek". say hi to howard and tom for me.

best bargain is up the road a bit to "wedgewood". off of 45 on 105 in conroe. fun course and cheap.

btw, don't forget the "tradition" at cypresswood.

best golf school is "cypresswood school of golf". you will find the local top am's, a ton of mini tour players and college bags from the who's who of college golf hanging around the school 24/7.

regards,

sarg1948

btw, i play "walden on lake conroe". very nice old style course, very nice. bit pricey though.

Thanks for all the info. I played the tradition and woodforest. Both were awesome courses. I was a member at Gleannloch Farms the last six months of last year but I guess Augusta Pines is in negotiations to buy the course. I'm sure membership fees will go way up unfortunately. I have a couple stitch backs coming and cant wait to try them out. They look great!

glennloch is a nice track. my son plays it a lot in hs golf. tears it up. don't care for augusta pines. like all the woodlands clubs but the palmer. it is too tricked up.
