I am amazed to see the numbers of people implying Guan's bag being girly(sorry for a lack of better word).

First of all he is a 14 years old kid who looks quite skinny. So no surprised here that he is using a lot of hybrids to navigate PGA length courses.

Secondly, he made the cut at the freaking masters! I mean I don't care what he's using. Lady flex or anything. That is baller status in my book.

When I said it was girly it was just a poke at all the hybrids in his bag. I am very impressed by this kid and in no way knock the way that he plays. Who really cares if it is girly or not. Ryan Palmer plays a very similar set up. So does Y.E. yang.

But If not for all the name brand OEM gear it would look like a womens box set for target HAHA.

That would be a question for the "no staff bag with your name unless you're being paid to play" brigade. Personally, I like staff bags. I just wondered where the people are that think staff bags are reserved for only the elite professionals. Several on this site have a problem with anybody having an (a) by their name using a staff bag let alone one with his name on it.

It makes him a "poser", you know.

If you look really closely at the picture you can kind of make out a T serial number. It isn't the clearest...but it looks like a T to me.

Staff bag for the amateur golfer seems to be more popular in China than it is in the US. I played with a couple clients from China and they all came with various staff bags.. I think only one guy was using a carry bag since he chose to walk. If you ride a cart or take a caddy every time you play it is actually a pretty practical idea .. the one guy had like 5 dozen golf balls in there along with a few outfits and another pair of shoes. None of them had their name on their bags though .. they also didn't make the cut in the masters. I used an Adams staff bag for awhile since I usually ride but trying to get the damn thing to fit in and out of my little hyundai was impossible plus I had to deal with razzing from my buddies. Now it sits in the garage since no one will buy it haha.

ugggh, i can't remember what i was doing at 14 nor do i want to remember. Having a chance to play in the Masters and hang with the big boys, quite an accomplishment i would say. if those 4 irons and however many hybrids/woods you need gets you low scores and W's, i wouldn't say much if i played against him. Give the kid a break, i'm sure we'd all kill to be in his shoes on the tour.

Well bottom line for me is this.........1st Major made the cut. First full field PGA Tour event made the cut. This kid can play! Great for golf.

Maybe it's not that this kid has a ladies setup. Maybe it's that many of us have ego-driven setups. One thing is a true: He made the cut in the Masters and none of us have (excluding you tour pros). In fact, this kid has outplayed many pros in two straight tournaments. That's unreal. I hope many more ams will take note of his bag and we see more setups for scoring and winning, not to make our egos feel better. I honestly think that is the root of the anchored putter movement but that's another story.

If I had to play the courses he was playing on tour, I don't think that I'd have a lot of irons in the bag either.

Club selection: driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, wedge, putter would probably work for most holes.

Some of the media are reporting they have asked him and been told it is Tianlang Guan.

I believe the last name is said first in china. So whatever his last name is, followed by his first name.
