I'm really digging the scratch wedges.

Too bad the millions of golf fans in China can't view this website.

Amazing short game!! Watched him hit shots around a few holes today. I'm talking Phil, Tiger, Seve all rolled into one with his touch and imagination, oh and did I mention he's 14 frickin' years old.

The two 23* hybrids are battling for a spot in the bag with the Graphite Design shaft sort of leading as of right now.

Very nice, polite young man with a lot of [s]swagger[/s] confidence.

He just switched over to the Matrix in the driver, though his father seems to have picked up a lot of equipment this week from just about every OEM.

Picked up a new Cameron putter today but don't see him switching any time soon.

That sounds more like a Meng saying then a confucious. I am very impressed with this kid. Once china decides that they are going to start schools for golf and they are having kids hit balls and practice for 12 hours a day like they do for gymnastics and table tennis. We will see someone that will challange even tigers records.

Look like his Motore Speeder on the picture is "S" not "X" on his 3 wood or I am seeing different.
Same thing with some of the GD hybrid shafts...pics show 85 Stiff...but the original description states "x"....sounds like he is doing a lot of testing, etc. to get the right mix....thanks for the great pics!

One thing that media has not picked up upon is that Guan's Dad is wealthy. He is damn wealthy. Golf is not a everyday sports like gym or table tennis. It takes $$$ to learn golf in China. His Dad belongs to a golf country club in Guanzhou, which is gonna cost a lot of money for membership. He sends Guan to U.S for summer camps every year. This is why Guan's English is very good. Word on the Internet (hence, take it with a grain of salt) is that he blows $1M+ per year to train Guan.

That kinda money is impossible to scale, meaning China will never produce good golfers unless the cost of learning goes way down.

Internet myth. No way he spends $1mil per year for Guan's golf. Think about that one for a moment.

One thing to keep in mind with the hybrid shafts is even though they are marked X they may not be tipped to fully play at an X... For example, a 4 hybrid may be recommended to be tipped 1.5" for that shaft to play to flex... Tipping it only 0.5" would put it slighly softer to what extent depends on the shaft...

Golf is currently only really accessible to the very rich in China.
No doubt the Chinese Govn't is developing some golf stars.

The women's 2010 Olympic bronze medal winners in curling from China looked like a bunch of teenagers.
Rumor.
The team practiced in Lacombe, Alberta.......12-14 hrs 7 days a week ......coached by a Canadian.

Most other male and female curling teams comprise of adults who have regular jobs & lives and take a sabbatical 6 mths prior to practice.

Also I thought he's sponsored by Callaway.

What's up with the X flexed clubs? Someone enlighten me how one swings a 4 series driver shaft, 5.5 irons but some are X Flexed?
My first reaction as well.
Me three. I can't believe it. He hits it 250 and has a super smooth swing with a subtle cast and little lag. It looks like he could easily control a regular flex.

I do agree with those who have stated that the fairways and hybrids could be untipped and therefore play softer. Notice how it doesn't mention flex in the driver.

his shaft flexs are probably based on how he loads them and angle of attack. theres alot more that goes into a properly fitted shaft than just the swing speed

I can't believe nobody has asked the question yet! Is that an off-the-shelf R1 or did this young phenom get his hands on a R1 V2? Cause you can't be playing on the PGA Tour and NOT have a V2.

First of all, it is a different world out there. One we can't seem to understand. Pride is everything, and the show pride by showing off how much money they have. And yes, the Chinese government is very rich and powerful. They can do anything they want, so to speak. Money s not an issue to them, it's just golf is not a priority to them unlike badminton and table tennis. But I do hear that the government is behind this little kid, 100%
