Thinking of adding 3I to my set, anyone's impressions of it?

Also wondering if I should go down a flex for the 3I for some height?
Try the Ping i25 3-ish hybrid for comparison.
IMO if you're going for a hybrid the G25 would be better, higher launching. I compared the i25's to the G25 hybrids when I went with the combo set.

Apologies to all for feeding the troll, I will now ignore, so this thread can resume per its topic.
By Jove I think you've GOT it !!! :taunt::taunt::taunt:(cool)
Jolly good mate! I'm not so sure the troll will stay away though, I'm sure the once invigorating conversations with the locals in the red neck hillbilly hang out now appear dull compared to the world of the internet.

We may have to just smile politely, drink our tea and watch the queen mum rise from her grave to smack a 74 round St Andrews with her Ping shovels. Tally ho :-)
Only thing you can do is let him keep talking to HIMSELF. BTW, who was he calling the "Ping Rep" ? You or me ? :cheesy:

And telling him to "sod off" probably won't help either.

IMHO, 75-95% of the people that play golf simply either want to enjoy it more, don't have the physical ability to improve, or just want to make the lowest scores they can either because the don't HAVE the time, or just don't WANT to put in the time, to try to "improve" enough so the can play blades.

Of course then there are 12 handicappers who expect they'll get good BY playing blades. It helps them concentrate more.:)

Of course some of THEM may have already REACHED their potential and just don't realize it (yet ?). :blind:

Cheerio !!!
I'm not really sure regarding the ping rep it's been posted so many times.....but then I assume Ping reps also sell i25 irons which were mentioned in the same post so the whole thing was confusing.

I hit my 4/5 rather high for a mid hitter with regular CFS. Not that I mind at all. On one hand I worry about hitting too low with 3I on the other hand why not have a club I can hit into wind and not get it blown off.
I wouldn't worry too much about hitting the g25 3 iron too low, it's as high launching design as you can get really in an iron. Best try both shafts if you can.

^Combo as in Hybrids/Woods replacing long irons?
Where did you make the split? Hope you enjoy them :)

Yeah they actually sell it as a "combo" set. It's a 20* + 23* hybrid then 5-PW set. I also added a UW. The "Combo" pricing is a bit cheaper then buying the 20/23* hybrids then a 5-UW set.

Hey...the 2 Blokes...at least I post my Hcp unlike you...and as such am willing to take the heat from those who wish to keep their Hcp "classified". Plus, I have hit a plateau with irons because there's a boat-load of other shots per round that have nothing to do with hitting full 3-PW on the course. Case in point, last round I shot 79. Let's look at the percentages of shots for that round:

14 Drives: 18% of shots
5 shots >150 yd approach: 6% (par 3's, longer approach par 4's)
9 shots 149-120 yd approach: 11%
4 shots <120 yd approach: 5% (4 third shots on par 5's)
47 "other shots": 60% (short-game)

So, 78% of the shots were attributed to the driver and short-game...approaching 80%....leaving ~20% for irons. Of the 20%, only 6% of all shots were from beyond 150 yards, with 73% of iron approach shots being from inside 150. So 3 out of 4 iron shots were what I would term "short iron shots". So, if the G25, or equivalent brand X, is thought to somehow help on short-iron shots from inside 150...great, but these are substantially routine shots no matter if hit with an MP4 or the widest-sweet-spot CB. If these shots are not routine, something else is going on that no club can help like tops, chunks, thins, poor alignment, chasing ridiculous pin placements, etc. Based on the percentages, one can't possibly (if one's swing even mildly looks like a golf swing) contend a G25 "saves the day" vs. brand X, or some blade. Take the emotion out and work off the percentages.

Is that a "OH S**T...never thought of that laugh? More power to you....curtail that 20 yard slice to 15 with your G 7 iron....LOL. Of course, if you're shooting 110 all the percentages change. Could be the right club for you....I think they have a "Mack Truck" signature version coming out next year...stay tuned! I'm disappointed though because I wish you would have bought the i25...and hated it...so the rest of us could pick it up for half-off. Crap.

Let me see if I can get this thread back on track

I ordered my G25 set to flow better in my bag

Bent the 4i to 22* to perform better off the tee
Had the 9i and PW bent 1* weak to play 46* PW as I prefer 6* gaps between wedges and play 52* and 58*

I also love how I custom ordered the gorge wedges and they have the exact same finish .
Gives me a consistent look from 4i to 58*

Nice bag!

For my G25's I went G25 UW (50*), 54 Gorge bent to 55, then 60 Gorge. So the short end of the bag has a bunch of clubs at 5* gaps. I'd rather see 6* than 4 though. Can't figure that one out.

Hit um well! :D

Ok well it's really a off the tee club for me so the extra degree will allow it to fly approx 4-5 yards further in theory.

Not so sure about that if normal irons are gapped at 4* and there are typically 10-15 yd gaps. Granted the next iron down is SLIGHTLY shorter in length as well but not significantly.

Yes...curious...because 4-5 yards is what I thought too. Does that make a difference? Why not hit a 2 hybrid and gain 10 or more? Not bagging on you, I just don't understand the virtually imperceptible yardage gains. The next shot will still be a super long iron anyway.

Bowen....do/play as desired...don't pay any attention to me...but I'm honest about my game and never blame reasonably fitted clubs for failure. Yes, my short-game sucks, but I'm only 3 strokes away from single digit...and I do shoot mid to high 70's when the short-game is 'on"...and 2 rounds ago I was 1 under after 9...blew up on the back...again...so what...I'm not impressed with my own game, and I certainly don't expect scratch golfers to revel in what I have to say. However, I do know enough scratch golfers who never blame their clubs for a bad round...they blame themselves, 99% their short-game. I play Apex's...go ahead...say they suck...don't care... and I try to help others by testing clubs to provide some feedback which about 99% of others on this thread fail to provide.

What sort of help were you looking for ?

Maybe I can help you find a/the/that thread since you seem incapable of doing so yourself.

As it's been suggested to you a NUMBER of times before, by a number of people, this thread is about the Ping G25 iron.

But YOU have tried to take it in a number of different directions, e.g. blades vs CBs, who cares about irons if they're such a small part of your game ?, etc.......

Why continually "go after", challenge and otherwise ANNOY the guys on this thread who are enthusiastic about a club THEY like ?

Why does it (apparently) BOTHER you so much that they love their G25s ?

YOU don't like 'em and won't use 'em. OK, message received and understood. MANY TIMES.

Now how do I say this nicely ??? OK,,,,,,,,,,,,,, go sod off, will ya ? :stink:

Now how do I say this nicely ??? OK,,,,,,,,,,,,,, go sod off, will ya ? :stink:

Oh, and I'm a 6.

Oh and I tried and didn't like the G25s.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
