well a lot of tiger fans are casual golf fans. among serious golf fans I don't think it's fair to say tiger fans root against other golfers more than say a phil fan etc...

I will say that I like phil although i'd like to see him be a little more intense and stop trying to make everyone like him. throw some clubs, curse, act like you care phil: show some fire. just my opinion.

Phil's got the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hardest par 4's coming up.

He'd have to birdie the drivable par 4 (no problem), the 600 yard par 5, the 215 yard par 3, and one of the tough par 4's. Going to be very tough.

It really boils down to a "Tiger is the superior athlete and golfer" vs "Phil is the superior person" argument. I don't look at athletes as role models, and I do not care what they do in their free time (obvious exception being violations of the law). Many people do care, which is fine.

I don't look at them as role models either and I like both Tiger and Phil. Yup, I guess I'm weird like that. However, if I had to choose one for myself, I'd take being a good person over being a good athlete every day of the week. But I love watching both of them play golf, even more so in the same group.

vijay is a good one. I tend to like grinders and guys that play 'cool mad' as it's been described before. I really like stricker though but I wonder if his lack of intensity is part of the reason he hasn't won a major. the best seem to have a bit more fire and arrogance to their personality.

C'mon dude. Nothing about Tiger's personality says genuine to me. I root for him because he's one of the greatest ever, and because he makes the difficult game of golf look easy.

Btw, I root for Phil too. One of the few that's in Tiger's stratosphere in terms of natural golf talent.
