Been played extensively the past year. I clean my clubs mostly after every round. I have noticed on the 9i where the finish wants to start flaking but hasn't; maybe these are an early set I'm not sure. These are my babies but I have some 712 AP2's that may come beat these out so we will see..Here is that picture, if the iron really starts flaking and I had a local shop change shafts, do you guys think Ping will still warranty the finish?

I've heard Ping has great customer service. I've also read threads on here about that same thing happening and was replaced. They may ask where the irons were purchased, new/used, ever have a shop bend them or change shafts?

Just call and talk to them. I recently ordered a few gorge wedges and by fault of my own my 52 is the wrong swing weight. I had only had them a few weeks and after talking with the lady on the phone for a bit she said to just send it back and they would swing weight it free if charge. Awesome customer service!!

For those interested in the plating vs. what's underneath discussion, I remembered reading another thread on another forum where a test got a set of 4-LW and had WRX grinds applied to all of the wedges. There are some pics where you can see where the grind area no longer has the satin finish. Basically the whole sole is unplated. Here is a link http://www.thehackersparadise.com/forum/showthread.php?29779-Ping-i20-Irons-Review-Forum-Testing-Review-Thread&p=1223854&viewfull=1#post1223854 .

Alright, I'm a believer.....

I played Eye 2's many years ago and they were my last Pings of any kind. After finally reading another i20 thread, and having juust got rid of my second set of irons, I decided I had nothing to lose so I might as well see what the hype was all about. I'm at a 8.9 and also play some 714 AP1's. I've played mostly Mizuno MP's (many models) over the past five years.

I took my first hacks with some i20's shafted with the CFS regular (while these may have been a quick buy I also made sure the specs were right for what I play - blue dot and standard length).

In short, I'm sold. These things are money. I think it's partly clubhead (maybe 20%) but I also think me and the CFS shafts really get along. Again, these were selected because they are very close to my fit but even so I didn't expect them to be so good. Most impressive are the longer irons, something that has become my nemesis over the past few years. I'll throw the 4i back in the bag, something I haven't used in years. They have plenty more testing to go thru before I start dumping my other irons but they are very promising. Frankly, after the first 40 balls, I felt a little foolish for not trying the Pings a long time ago :-).

I've been liking these more as I've hit them more -- especially the longer irons -- they launch great with CFS X shafts for me. I could even play a 3 iron with these I'm sure, but I'd rather bag a hybrid. I will say that they're definitely not the panacea of forgiveness. My usual miss is toward the toe. Often I hit about half an inch toward the toe from the center of the club -- on those hits I suspect I lose about 6 to 8 or maybe 10 yards, or about half a club to three-quarters of a club, compared to a dead center strike. I probably have as many strikes that are a half inch toward the toe as in the center, so dialing in distances isn't an exact science with these. Now, if I have a bad toe miss where I strike almost on the edge of the grooving, I'll lose 15-20 yards still, or about a club and a half. I would have hoped for less distance loss.

I tend to miss the i20's toward the toe as well and echo the distance loss, but seem to be getting better dialled with them, CFS Stiff for me, very happy, great feel and can work a them both ways but not in an exaggerated fashion, usually a gentle draw or fade which is fine by me. They look superb over the top and you can't beat Ping durability.

I have been changing between the AP2 712s and my I20s recently. I have noticed that mis-hits with the AP2s do not go as far as my Pings. I find it weird that someone mentioned losing so much distance with the I20s. I actually found I only lost like 5 yards on the toe, obviously unless there is a little wind. I have S300s in the AP2s and TT black gold X shafts in the i-20s. I went a little softer flex to try to slow everything down. I have been wanting to try the Modus shafts so if anyone is interested in some black gold shafts with like new ndmc grips, let me know. I also have some Ping CFS x with like new Golf Pride z-cord grips!
