I have never shipped my clubs before and some high profile courses like Bandon dunes and forest dunes suggest using that website. For me to send my clubs from Mich to Florida will cost me $40-$60 (one-way) if I use this website. Are there any other options that are better?

Just shipped mine to Bandon today with them. Was $79 each way for 62 lbs but that allowed me to pack almost all my clothes including rain gear.

Have a club glove but didn't want to use a soft case so borrowed a buddy's hard case

I have a ping 9.5 staff bag. Would you recommend the club glove for traveling? That's the bag I was considering .... Why did you want to use hardcover instead?

Shipsticks is awesome! I got into a car accident when I was working at Bandon Dunes and had to ship most of my belongings to Palm Springs for the winter. Experienced no problems and a fast delivery.

I use a club glove with stiff arm and head covers for irons and wedges. That, coupled with the seriously thick padding at the top, makes your clubs [i]very[/i] well protected. Can't recommend highly enough.

I shipped my clubs from Nashville to Milwaukee this year using Shipsticks. No problem with delivery. The only issue was they double billed my credit card. I called them twice to get the 2nd charge reversed. After two calls, they still had not reversed it. One call to AMEX and that problem was solved.

My brother, dad and myself all used Ship Sticks to send our clubs to Whistling Straits. Awesome service, and they were at the front desk waiting when we arrived to the hotel. Two of us had hard cases, the third was a club glove. I've always been partial to the hard case, but after using the club glove I went out and bought one...

went on vacation this past fall. had a brand new club glove with stiff arm. when getting back, grabbed my clubs from the conveyor....and the club glove was shredded. huge rip, the golf bag was torn and looked like it had been drug across pavement, the stiff arm was bent sideways, and my putter headcover was scuffed. clubs however were fine.

airline reimbursed me for travel bag and golf bag, but just made me wonder what kind of treatment clubs get. obviously this was a unique situation, but doubt these baggage handlers are too worried about whats inside those golf bags.

Hard cases are a pain in the back side to travel with. They don't fit well into any vehicle, especially if you are with buddies who have bags of their own.

Anyone have other experience with Ship sticks? I am taking my boys on a golf trip in February and thought I may use this service. Given enough lead time, it is significantly cheaper than Fed Ex.

Then you've never traveled with someone who has a fully packed Last Bag - my brother's takes up more room in the car than my SKB hard case.

My question for those that used it is how far in advance do you have to drop your clubs off with them? If I'm getting ready to go on a big golf trip I am usually practicing or playing right up until the last minute. I dont mind flying with it as its always under 50 pounds - and free since its my only checked bag - but if it was one less thing to deal with in the airport I'd consider it.

And if it's an option, don't forget to take your driver head off and store it in the bag. Used a Club Glove burstproof for a bunch of trips last year and it worked a charm.

I've taken mine to FedEx ground 5 times - never had a problem. I have a Sun Mountain Club Glider. Just drop that off at Fed Ex - and it is awaiting me at my hotel or course.

I use a Cargo Golf Pro 500 bag that has worked well for me--including at least half a dozen round trips with the airlines. It has a hard shell surrounded by a soft outside, and it really isn't any larger than a normal golf bag except for being a little longer. (I have the older version that doesn't fit super long 48" drivers--but it fits my 45.5" driver just fine.)

It fits well in a Civic trunk, but sometimes has trouble in some mid-size cars that have narrow trunks (e.g. Chevy Malibu).
