Took collection of my 52.08 F Grind, 56.10 S Grind and 60.07 S Grind all in raw Black on Friday. I missed the SM4 bandwagon so I was still on the old grooves but I feel like the spin I am getting from the SM5's is similar to my old ones so I don't feel like I have taken a step back.

Previously I was with the 60.04 in the L Grind and was reluctant to move away from it but the S Grind seems to play very similar to to my first ever 60 degree which was an old raw 260.12 Vokey which I always loved. I could be totally wrong and they might play completely different but it seems to go through the turf in a similar fashion for me anyway although I am happy to be corrected.

beautiful wedges! Ive done the same thing - Sm2 to SM5 and found the spin the same dare I even say better considering my SM2 were many years old. I LOVE the SM5 just thrilled over the purchase!

That is the setup I'm considering as well, only I don't think I'll put Matty on mine... :D

Yeah the stampings were done by Titleist. Given the short turn around time in me ordering them and then receiving they must have a setup in the UK to so it.

Really pleased with them! Looking forward to getting some serious game time in with them over the weekend.

I do not have pictures of my 54 S grind but it has not oxidized at all yet, but it is only a week and some change old. I am sad to report it will be for sale shortly as I just do not like the S grind. I bought a Taylor Made Preferred 54 and am liking it better.

I like to open the face at times and the S doesn't seem to lend itself to that. I hit it lower around the green than I like too, the M and the K grind is much easier to elevate. I also had the S dig just a little which I do not like. My short game is most built around using the bounce and not letting the club dig. It just did not work for me. I need more heel relief. I tried it because Stricker uses it and I have very little wrist set on short shots so I thought maybe I would be able to use it too, but it just didn't work. I like to stay as shallow as possible with as little wrist set as possible and use the bounce but I just didn't like the trajectory, too low.

Shouldn't the S dig less than the M?

I actually haven't owned an M, I own a TVD K in 58 but I have hit some M grinds. For me, the S dug a little, not a lot or on every shot but it dug a few times. The M has dug on me before but rarely and the K hardly ever digs at all for me. I do not know the exact effective bounces on each but my 54 has 10* marked on it and the effective bounce just doesn't work well for me. I am not sure why but the leading edge can dig a little for me.

I stripped mine with a naval jelly soak for an hour, CLR rinse with scotch brite (most important yet over looked part for an even finish) and finally some metal polish. Regarding oxidation, I've been babying these from the start and clean them very thoroughly after each use with a wire brush and warm water. To date, almost no oxidation or discoloring.

Is anyone that used to play the original 588 Tour Action wedges now playing a K grind SM5? Or are any former 588 users using other grinds with good results? I love the look and feel of these wedges and am trying to find the grind most similar to the old 588s.

Hit the SM5 50* F grind on a mat a couple days ago, reminded me of any other 50*, saw the $139 price for a cast wedge - not impressed.
[/quote]

I have never been impressed with any wedge "hit off mats" cast or forged. You might want to try them where you normally play, unless you regularly play off mats, in that case you will definatlely want to pass :)

Just bought a 52F and 58K in chrome - which is more satin on the face than the back of the blade due to the surface milling.

Both feel much, much better than the SM2 (the last range of Vokey's I tried) and look great behind the ball.

Got to say, the K grind is unbeatable for steep AoA, easily the best bunker wedge I've ever had.

The K is great from everywhere.... tight lies included. Vokey himself plays the stock 58K with no modifications to the sole.

Couldn't agree more. Would like to regard myself as a pretty decent short game player, but the 58K has undoubtedly improved my greenside bunker play instantly. It's just that perfect thud sounds and feel at impact. Aim a couple of inches behind the ball and bang. It's ridiculous. Through testing, I even stood on golf balls, burying them past the equator. Squared the clubface up, hit down on it and out pops the ball high and soft. It feels like cheating.
