Towel

Recommended Posts

I know this is probably kind of stupid but I'm looking for a towel that can hold water decent for a round to wipe my clubs off. I've searched around and see a lot of people talking about players towels. I've never used them. Do they hold water or are they just good for dry wiping?

Unfortunately I'm a bit of a digger so I spend a lot of time wiping down my irons.

Thin all cotton all white bath towel from Target or Wal Mart is what I would call a "players towel). This towel is similar to what a Motel 6 or Best Western would offer as their room bath towel.

I think the term players towel often refers to the lager towels offered by many manufacturers and readily available on EBay etc.

Then there are specialty towels such as the one made by Frogger.

I use the microfibre type with a hole, that is sometimes called a "players towel" that I usually just hang from my alignment sticks. I use the Club Glove one as I could get it in Canada, but there is a company called, strangely enough, Players Towel, that makes the similar product. Googled both and they pop right up.

I've seen similar ones in stores and sometimes in golf course proshops with course logos.

The microfibre ones are light, clean well and also wash well. As far as staying wet all round, probably not a full round, at least in the heat. But since I'll be refilling my water or going to the john at least once a round anyway, I just re-wet the towel at the same time. They are light enough that I usually take an extra one or two when traveling.

I do have a Frogger Amphibian towel, (a gift), but I've not used it much as the recommendation to air dry it seemed like a pita.

I have attached the Frogger to the ring on my Clicgear a couple of times in the rain under my umbrella as an extra help to wipe grips since the outer side is water resistant. But for that kind of use, plus moderate club protection from the rain rather than a full rain cover, I prefer a larger two-sided one like the Titleist Towel-Bag Hood.

That's more than you asked for...and it still doesn't give an answer for one that keeps wet all round, but there you go.
Cheers.

I have gone to using this -http://www.playerstowel.com/Tour-Towel.html

I prefer the microfibre towel as a I carry and I like everything as light as possible. I also tend to drop my towel allot, so I cheesy as it is, I have my name embroidered on towel, and that works great of getting my towel back.

I like the club glove towel but I think the players towel is very similar. You can use any towel and it will get the job done. I just like microfiber ones.

The people I play with call me Linus or Towelie as I love my towels and have become known for my love of towels.

I carry 2 wet towels - one for my hands, face, etc and one for my clubs. One is a Players Towel and the other is from Club Glove. Both are excellent. I have a third dry Players Towel to dry my hands.

In the past, I just used towels from Target but kept losing them. The slit on my current towels makes them nearly impossible to lose.

I use a simple white bath towel I picked up while staying at a hotel in Italy. Just the right size and quite thin.

Are the ''Player's Towel" a heavier material like the Club Glove? Local Golfsmith has stopped carrying the CG, but all the microfiber/waffle towels they have seem to be much thinner material. Since I now have to resort to eBay for the CG I've considered going to the Players for something different/custom.

Don't wash them in fabric softener. It hinders there ability to hold water.

Definitely a heavier material like the CG towels. I've had mine for a long time, but I'm almost positive that comparing both new would show that the Players Towel has a little more heft. I'm curious as to why your Golfsmith stopped carrying them? The local golf shops here seem to sell them quickly.

Players Towel, hands down the best. It holds water pretty well for 9 holes, then water again at the turn. I hardly ever have to dunk my clubs in the club cleaner that comes attached to the cart. A quick wipe and it's good to go. I've had a waffle towel in my bag for a few years. From Meguiars waffle towel (car specific) to Club Glove waffle towel (get's crusty at the end of the round when dried up). The Players Towel is great. Light weight and hold water well, plus a lot of customization.

I buy these at Menards. Use one for a few rounds as club wiping towel then pitch -- I don't want to put any towel I've used on the course into the washer. Then grab the next one. Keep a nicer towel for face, etc. That one gets washed and used for as long as it lasts. Find this to be a pretty cost effective way to keep the clubs clean.

coupon code used was "golfwrx". sorry I should have posted that. here's my towel. my previous one was very identical only this one is screen printed with a bigger Texas flag and no putter slit, the other was embroidered and red trim. This one matches my bag well.

those are great, for detailing my truck, not for the golf course IMO. any grass or dirt sticks to microfiber. I have plenty for my vehicles but if I drop one on the floor, I throw it and use another. they hold water but not long enough as the players towel does. I keep one end of the towel wet and the other dry. I hardly ever need a scrubber or the cart's club cleaner. unless I take a chunk out of the earth.

Why would you worry about putting the dirty towel in your washing machine? I just always wash my golf towel by itself. It's just dirt.
