Footjoy DNA Helix - Thoughts and Reviews?

hi guys,

anyone had a chance to play and review the new Footjoy DNA Helix?

they look good and certainly better than the previous versions. I loved the original DNA's until the sole decided to fall off completely....disappointing but FJ at least replaced the shoe and stated that the particular batch (known by the serial #) used a defective adhesive. Anyways, I'm looking forward to trying these out!

Please share any experiences you have had thus far! How to they compare to other FJ offerings?

They are great. I have had them for a few weeks. They feel and look like to first version just a little lighter. I alternate between them and Icons, couldn't be happier

One of the best shoes FJ has put out.. So lightweight and stable.. Wish they had more colors though!

What current shoe (FJ or other) do they fit like? The adidas tor 360 boost is my ideal fitting shoe! Cheers :)

Huge fan of these, as I was of the first DNAs as well. They fit identical to the 1.0's, which was a half size down from nike for me. A little more room in the toe, but still a good tight fit on the heel with a good amount of cushion.

I don't really notice my toes touching the top too much, if that's what you mean? I notice to the width more than anything. Just a little more room for my toes to move. The tops of my toes do rub in other footjoys (DryJoys Casual/Pro SL), but not these. I've been wearing my 1.0's for tournaments, and some Nike LCV's for casual rounds, and I think that the Helix is more comfortable than the LCV's.

Ah ok, gotcha. I meant that if there's too much vertical room, the leather bends unnaturally and pinches weirdly when you walk and bend the shoe. I had the 1.0 DNA's and they fit nice and snug! Cheers thanks

Loved the original DNA's (still wearing them), was not impressed by the 2.0 but very tempted to pick up a pair of the Helix. Saw them in store yesterday and look better in person than on TV

I can't find them anywhere local. I would love to try them on before buying. Have checked my local GG, Maple Hill CC (Large Outlet), Dicks Sporting Goods, ect. to no avail.

Any suggestions? GG had no idea when they would receive stock.

Had to order mine directly from FJ's website when I hadn't seen them anywhere else locally. Chatted a little bit with one of the reps, telling him what size I wore in the 1.0's, and he told me that the only thing I might notice differently was the cushion on the heel. Apparently the fit is identical to the 2.0's, but I can't say one way or the other when it comes to that, as I never owned those. They do feel really similar though to my 1.0's, if that helps? They look much better in person than they do online too.

There's no more squeak from the sole, they feel lighter and more stable, they gave the tongue a little bit of stretch which makes it more comfortable, and the BOA system is better (turn left to loosen rather than pulling the BOA knob out and re-tightening to your liking, which isn't a huge deal but it's a really convenient feature).

I just tried them on at a Golf Town. My usual size is 11.5 Medium in Nike or Adidas. In 11.5 Medium in the Helix's my foot was swimming but the 11 Medium has a snug fit in the mid foot but majorly rubs my pinky. Similar toe box to the Pro SL but not as sharp. Overall, they just don't work for me. Nike and Adidas have better comfort up front...

I may try a pair on tomorrow, oddly on the golftown website the shoes are $269 (still crazy) and yet on the footjoy Canada site, the shoes are $299 and the Boas are $329...odd.

I think they really missed the mark with these in terms of pricing. It's crazy. They'll end up like ecco where nobody buys them unless they go on clearance lol

Yeah I mean I am all for spending money on golf related items but at some point people will just not buy because they don't want to spend $300+ on golf shoes.

I would rather get a couple pairs mid year for 20-40% off.

How do they fit vs. the Pro SL's?

The Pro SL BOA's are wider in the heels and have slightly more toe room. I have narrower feet so I prefer the DNA's because I like a more snug fitting shoe.

Also, the Pro SL's feel more flat footed and the helix feel like they have an ever so slightly raised heel section (maybe they don't but to me that's what it feels like anyway).

Just got my Helix's today. Coming for the 1.0's DNA's, these are a huge improvement. So much more stability and the fit is a perfect match. As others have said, I'm at 10.5 in Nike but a 10 in the Helix. The heel box is so stable. Only had time to take a few swings in the backyard with the driver. What a confidence boost, zero slippage with full control on the most violent swings. Best price I could find was through Discount Dan's.

Same, these are an option at an invite and I'm considering pulling the trigger on these rather than the usual shirt/shorts. The Pro Sl's are an option too but I already have a few pairs and the Helix is more expensive msrp.

Don't even need to buy them! I was leaning that way already because they are more expensive than the Pro SL's so why not, I probably wouldn't ever pay the difference considering how good the SL's are but if both are free.... Thanks!

Bought mine before a big golf trip last weekend. I have to say that they are very comfortable so far and had to size down a half size. Grip is much better than my previous pair of nikes (Not sure of model). I really like how much easier it was to roll onto the side of my lead foot in comparison to the Lunar Control or Vapor which I nearly purchased. That was the deciding factor for me.

Yeah they are a bit more than the SL, totally different shoe as well. They look way better than the SL if you play in shorts, at least to my eyes; also a lot less flat on your feet.
