Atlantic City Country Club or Ballamoor

I am looking to tee it up Saturday at either course. AC is $70 and Ballamoor is $59. I have two questions.

First, which course do you prefer?

Second, does either have temporary greens?

Dont know about temporary greens right now but given the choice i would regularly pick AC unless i know there is going to be significant wind. AC is one of the best courses in that area -- i play it regularly throughout the year.

Since its off the water i'd just suggest dressing warmer than you think you need to.

I would recommend ACCC. I've played both courses, but prefer to play ACCC

That’s like asking if you prefer Smith and Wollenskys or McDonalds. No comparison.

Ballamor is a nice layout I played it in late December. Was in good shape, greens were pretty slow but in good shape. ACCC is worth the extra money, but I wouldn't go Smith and Wollensky vs. McDonalds.

Now - ACCC. Summer - Ballamor.

The bugs in the summer make ACCC unbearable at times.

Did you end up playing Ballamor? heading there on Monday- wonder how its looking

was contemplating the same thing about ACCC its 70 for there and 60 for Ballamor but thought it might be to cold with the wind for accc....

I did not make it down. Hopefully when the courses start to dry up, if that happens.

Played ballamor a few weeks ago course was in good shape...cart path only

Played ACC two weeks ago probably in better shape then ballamoor ....no cart restrictions

ACC is probably a better deal at $70 based on what they charge during the year

Best part played both rounds in about 2 3/4 hrs on sundays both courses basically empty

I'd vote for ACCC. Have only played in late late fall, or early March - definitely freezing cold with that wind even if the temp is above 50. Dress accordingly or wait till late spring. Other reasonable options are Twisted Dune and Running Deer... tier 2 to ACC but average public golf.

ACC is a nice course - but I don't think it's worth the money in season. I would rather play Twisted or Shore Gate

That's a good point. I would agree with that. I also don't know how well they have the greens rolling and general shape of fairways/tees/bunkers in June though. But I can't see any public golf that isn't inside the top 100 public list worth $225. Public golf is so aggravatingly bad in Jersey...

There are some decent courses for the money, but they are overshadowed and outnumbered by the overpriced ones.

I'm in Mercer County and we have a handful of tracks that are a good bang for the buck, especially for in county. Monmouth has a few as well.

I completely agree with your comment about Mercer County. I worked in the area for the past eight years and always took advantage of getting a county card, even as an out of state resident, and would play Mercer Oaks and Mountain View multiple times a week during the season. Tee times were pretty easy to find on Friday afternoons but earl weekend times were obviously a little tougher to grab. I would honestly wait until the night before and could easily grab a time a time between 7-9am on Saturday or Sunday.

I should edit that to *South Jersey (South of 195)... I'm very un-educated on the northern counties... probably some better simply because of the terrain in the NW part of the state.

I’m facing the same decision this week. I’m a 90 minute drive. ACCC is $150, ballamore is 89. I loved AC last time I played it. But I’ve seen great reviews on Ballamor. Not sure it’s quite “check the box” level though.

Haven't played Ballamor, but ACCC is awesome. The holes on the bay, especially when the wind is up, are a challenge, but fun to play. It will probably be closed during these times, but the locker room is really cool.

AC was great. Conditions were superb, greens rolled night and day compared to the county courses in Monmouth. So smooth and fast. Played in 10-15 mph wind and the water holes it seemed to double. Glad I went back, it had been almost a decade and I loved it just as much if not more today. So many fun holes.

I love ACCC. Fun course and always in amazing shape. I tried getting a time there 2 weeks from now but they said 24 advance booking only. Is that what you did?

I booked a few days in advance. Seemed like maybe they had some member times and some public. I wouldn't be surprised if they're slammed now that the weather has stepped up. 8 golfers an hour and you can see how quickly they'd fill up.
