Always loved the cg14's. Great wedges.
The one problem with Cleveland is that there are LOADS of fakes about on the used market. Usually in sets of 3 which are typically 52, 56, 60.

I found these comments on the Net specifically on the CG14, but the same applies to other models.

"I have bought a total of nine (9) Cleveland CG14 wedges in 3 different orders over the past month. ALL WERE COUNTERFEIT!!!
Looking now there are only fake versions on ebay in the uk. I became suspicious as the sticky label wouldn't come off and compared it to my 56 degree from american golf. The differences are quite obvious even from the ebay photos if you look carefully.
· The logo on the back of the club around the text zip grooves is not coloured in it is black rather than silver in the genuine article.

· The shaft is shorter,

· The grooves are thinner and wider dispersed.

· The zip grooves text is smaller as well as the most obvious difference in colour.

· The text Cleveland on the sole of the club is white rather than off white.

· The orange insert is not set all the way in."
Also:
"There are numerous FAKE CG 14 I ordered 2 'sets' of 3 wedges each...BOTH were fake."

I'm not saying you're wrong, but there are a few different models of the CG14, tour issue which looks different and then the original cg14, and then the cc cg14's. Again you may have gotten fakes, but I know there are 3 different models out there. OP, I have to second everyone that said CG14, they're great wedges.
Edit I actually think there is at least 4 models, Cleveland also released to retail another tour issue CG14.

My 50* has the orange/yellow insert, my 54*, 58* have black. The 50 says "zip grooves", 54-58 say "Tour Zip Grooves"

I bought one from GG new, other 2 for PGA SS, new.

The RTG CG14s are solid. I have 54 and 60. Thin topline for a wedge and very forgiving. I also have chromed CG14 Tour Zip 54 and 56. Those grooves seemed to wear down faster than the raw CG14s. Still awesome heads. I have tried the CG15 and Nike VR forged.

The original 588s with updated Tour Zip grooves have knocked all other wedges out of my bag.

I got mine with S400s and with a black pearl finish.

Loved them so much, I bought another set in case Cleveland goes under.

Do they have to say Cleveland or can they just be designed by Roger?

If designed by works, some of the callaway ones are nice. I have a set of CC's, i think Jaws, that are pretty nice.

CG14 and 900 series
Why all this love for the CG14? It doesn't have much heel relief that I can see, yet it's described as versatile. The Nike wedges, as one example, do have good heel relief, and to me they are a more versatile grind.

I don't get too technical but have you ever tried them? They work. I never had a problem opening one up.

REG. 588 BeCu circa 2000. I still have them in 56* and 60* and you could back a Top Rock XL2000 up on a downward sloping iced over pond.

I love golf

The Cleveland 485 RTG's have just about fallen off the map these days. They were very good wedges.

588 RTG's are just about perfect in my estimation. I own about 10 of them.

The 691 Gap wedge is also very good.

I believe the original 588 RTG is the best wedge ever made. Hit them from my junior year of high school thru college and a few years after. If cleveland would make this exact same wedge (head shape, stamping) with todays grooves I would change immediately.
I have a couple(53/58) of brand new Original 588 RTG with LEGAL tour zip grooves that I bought from Marc at yourtourcollection.com

He has a ton of these and other models in all finishes and lofts available at unbelievably low prices, considering they are tour issue. He also has access to Cleveland's tour dept, so no fakes, if you need something other than what he has in stock. The 58 degree that I bought from him was really nice but I had some issues opening it up from tight lies, so he had the tour dept hand grind a new one for me.....find that type of service somewhere else!

The original Tour Action .588 RTG in unfinished raw steel. If they were still conforming, I would still play them.

Edit: If we're going with wedges designed by Roger Cleveland, I currently use Callaway Jaws X-Series CC wedges and love them.
See post above....you can still get original 588 RTG with conforming grooves.
