Ping Pioneer Cart Bag - 15 Slots??

Forgive me if this topic has already been addressed.

I just got the 2014 Ping Pioneer cart bag. I really love the way it looks. Has a ton of room, especially the size of the cooler pocket. I liked the idea of the molded putter slot. But I can't understand why it has 15 slots for clubs. Seems very odd to me and I am considering returning it for the Ping Hoofer 14 way stand bag.

Anyone else have the Pioneer cart bag? What do you do with the 15th slot?

i dont have a Ping Pioneer but my bag has 15 slots. I just use the extra one for alignment sticks. I think most people use them for training aids [size=4] [/size]

Umbrella, Ball Retriever, Alignment sticks, Extra Club ???? Call Ping and ask them. Hole in the very back could be for a long Putter. No idea. Never had a bag with divider for every club.

Extra club to bring to the range? I have an Ogio Chamber with 14 slots and find it annoying if I want to bring an extra club to the range.....no where to put it.

Pings website says it has 14 dividers and an individual putter well.

This is common. My Ping DLX and Sun Mountain c130 both have 15 slots.

I don't know why you would complain about having 15 slots instead of 14? It's like complaining she was a size 36 instead of a 34. More is better!

If you play in Tournaments, don't put an extra club in your bag. You might forget it's there and be penalized. Otherwise, I like to bring an extra driver or putter to try out. Sometimes I bring alignment rods. If you fly, you can put a club glove stiff arm in one of the slots.

I have this exact bag and it is awesome. I love the rangefinder holder too and the club dividers don't rip apart like my other bag did.

Same here. Use the extra spot to split my irons from hybrid/fairways

I use it when playing Golf with the wife, for trying out a different putter or wedge. Other than that, I use it for a Ball Retriever.

One of the reasons I liked the Staff Bag was for the added space which made it easy to carry extra clubs. 15 slots sounds a pretty good deal to me too as I don't normally experiment with more than one club at a time for lack of time to fully explore and compare.

Alignment rods.

What difference does it make?

My Sun Mountain bag has 15 slots as well, alignment sticks, ball retriever, extra club to experiment with...

These types of 1st world problems stress me out.

I've got an idea. You could rent that 15th slot out a playing partner who is struggling with not enough space in their 14 way divider. The bag will pay for itself in no time!

Besides the other reasons cited:

- reading all the threads where guys[u] regularly[/u] carry 15 clubs it makes business sense not to exclude that demographic out of th gate
- Club Glove stiff arm slot for travel
- for bags with putter slots in back on other my Sun Mountain design bags sometimes a mallet stuck out too much in transit. So sometimes I'd put the putter in one of the other slots. This 15- holer might be a little improved on that design.
-to confuse the crap out of the guy trying to figure what club is missing as there's an empty slot

With that world problem solved, gentleman, I'm going to have another coffee and debate with myself whether it will be poached, scrambled or easy over this morning. Decisions, decisions.

I think it would suck to have a bag with 14 slots, for all the reasons specified above. I'm always throwing something extra in the bag, whether it be a club or alignment rods. Especially a second driver to try on the range.

It is very useful for carrying an extra club in tournaments.

Tournament players are too stupid to count to 15 so they just peek and check to make sure every slot is filled and there are no double-ups. That extra club has won me many a tournament. Well...perhaps not.

How quickly to you start to become short of breath if the 15th slot is left open? Just curious.

I would only return if it had 13 slots. I think 15 is good for umbrella, alignment aids etc. nice bag!

I can only imagine the anxiety that kicks in when he's sees that open slot and thinks he left a wedge behind!

Sorry OP. just having a little fun at your expense.

The 15th slot is the putter well, they made it so your putter is carried in the car and on your should in a normal iron slot. Once you mount it on the cart your can transfer it to the large mouthed well... or place the driver in the well.

Isn't that where you store the trophy?

I have the bag. No complaints. Very happy with it.

How about a slot to place your Club Glove Stiff Arm when traveling with a travel bag!

Clearly that 15th slot is designed as a place for people who don't like getting extra scoops on their ice cream cones to stuff their surplus complaints.

I've been using a cart bag with 15 slots for the past 5 years - I wouldn't go back to 14.
