Until these crybabies get to watch whatever golfer they want, hit whatever shot they want, with whatever technical gizmo they want like shot tracer, with the correct amount of commentary from a chosen commentator, from whatever device they want for free and without commercials, no network coverage will be acceptable.

Hey, at least we are talking about it.

 

2015 was a complete disaster with both chambers bay and foxs first year

 

2016 at oakmont showed slight improvement... with Buck mentioning any other sport besides golf whenever he could.

 

2017: Erin Hills will be an excellent venue this year, shot tracking on every shot. I'm sure Joe Buck will study up a bit more on the history of the game and its players to make some more insightful commentary. But guarentee he will bring up baseball (Milwaukee) and football (green bay) at any chance he gets... it's his comfort zone.

DVR it and start watching a couple hours later. Easy-peasy. I never (ever) watch any sporting event live. All the noise and commercials are brutal. I have no idea what most of these guys say unless they're yapping through shots. I haven't had to endure a syrupy Jimmy Roberts human interest story in years.

Fox set the standard for golf on TV the last couple US Opens. They blew away everyone's expectations for coverage. I figured others would follow suit, but here we are 2 years later.

In my opinion, Fox commentators will beat the other networks if they don't say:

 

"Watching this other guy's putt should give him a good teach."

 

Heard it a few times last week - like fingernails on a blackboard. "Teach" is a verb, not a noun.

Zinger is great I think. Joe is no worse than Dan Hicks or Jim Nance, but I don't watch any type of baseball so I don't get tired of him there.

As long as the CBS crew isn't on, I'm ok with it.

Unfortunately for me I'll be watching the 4th round on DVR as I'll be on solo kid duty since an oxygen thief of a family member scheduled a bridal shower on F-ing Fathers Day and refused to change it.

Buck is the worst announcer in all of sports. If Fox would replace the announcers with just ambient sound and some guy who says maybe 30 words an hour max, it'd be the best broadcast in golf.

Anything that doesn't involve Bob Costas and his Holier than Thou, over the top style is good with me. I always have the volume down but I do use caption and read it every now and then. His whole deal with The Masters just shows what a do-gooder pos he really is. It's too bad the Triple Crown series is with NBC. I just can't tell you all my fantasies for this pos punk. Sorry, but the guy really pushes me out of character.

No. We hate buck because he is absolutely terrible at his job. It's not "trendy" it's just "true". If almost everyone hated eating cement, it wouldn't be because it was trendy, it would be because eating cement is terrible.

It's the US open and who really cares who does the broadcasting,if you don't like who does the broadcast don't watch it,

I just watch the golf and could care less about the announcers.

Also be prepared for shot tracer on every shot and yardages to/over bunkers, and flyovers with current player ball position and other awesomeness.

I'm not a big fan of superimposed Technology on the TV screen such as the Box Strike Zone in Major League Baseball, and the tail on the hockey puck for the NHL, but I love the shot tracer. I mean what good is it seeing a golfer swing and not seeing where the ball goes? To me it is one of the few technical additions to sports coverage that I really like.
