816 alpha fairway, still relevant?

Best Callaway 3 wood in years. I'm on my third head. I have the weight forward and an Aldila Rogue Silver 70x tipped 2" on it and I don't think there is a chance I'll look at 3w for a while. It can go a bit over 300 off the tee for me, easy 270+ club for me. Ball speeds are great, mid 170s on trackman. Awesome off the deck due to great turf interaction. It's about as perfect as a 3w ever made IMO.

One of my favorite fairways with Titleist 906F4 and Ping G400. My only issue was that it will turn the ball over if I get handsy. My Ping is a little more forgiving. The 816 is about unbeatable in regards to length and feel.

I still have a matte black 815 DBD driver head and a 816 Alpha 3w, doubt I ever get rid of them, some of the best looking heads made, and will never get anything out of them. The driver is not very forgiving, could easily game the 3w still.

I have a Pro White 70 sitting here, might plug it in and take it out for a run.

I am not a callaway fan, but the 816 fairways are some of the best looking and performing fairways I've tested

From talking to golf pros and competition amateurs, finding a FW that works is a major challenge for many.

Old "acid test" rule still applies: do a side-by-side with FWa and FWb, and see which works best.

I'd say so. I'm still really partial to my diablo edge tour 3 wood.

I am still attached to my 4 wood, Cally 816 Alpha. Those are one of the best woods Cally ever made.
