Not sure where your 90% comes from however in my area, it’s more like 60% of sales are white. Every pro shop and big box that sell golf balls are sold out of decent quality coloured balls.

Sorry, my number was for memory. Dean Snell’s figure is actually that yellow accounted for ~1% in 2017. MyGolf$py’s yellow ProV1 article mentioned non-white (includes truvis types) accounting for 20% but that includes ionomer balls as well.

Bottom line, if there was high enough demand for yellow to the point that Titleist were losing noticeable market share, they would have released a yellow ProV1 long before this year. Now if the majority of the PGA Tour changed, I think we’d see a big shift in demand and more offerings from a retail perspective, but that is highly unlikely.

The 2017 balls was available in yellow in Asia. Aside from a friend in the golf industry saying yellow TP5/TP5x are coming in 2020 I’ve yet to stumble upon any info saying the current ball will be coming in yellow. Maybe TM is not doing yellow as a means of promoting their Pix balls.

I am stoked the tp5x , tour ball, if finally in yellow. I don’t play prov1 as I love tp5x but always like yellow but only the mid-low level balls had them. I am stoked they are now available. Just ordered 4 dz.

100% Agree. The TP5x yellow is NOT very durable and once the yellow layer scuffs even a little; it shows the white layer underneath. I can't even use them for more then 1 ball per round since they get very scratched and dingy after 18 holes. I do like the performance of the TP5x, but to me it's comparable to the PROV1x.

I'll be going back to PROV1x yellows.

Wanted to give brief update after finally playing a full round with the yellow TP5x yesterday. First, performance is the same vs white (just to confirm that) and I also tied by best score this year, with another 71 (one under). Coincidentally, my other 71 was also with TP5x (maybe I should sell all my other 20 tour dozen balls, idk).

But the main reason I wanted to make this post is in regards to the durability issues I have been hearing about. I played the same ball through the 18 holes and i found this ball actually much stronger/resistant to scratches and scuffs, compared to the white TP5x, ball looks barely used and in perfect condition. Of course I cant judge by one single round with them and just a single ball, but so far it seems this ball could easily be my most durable ball and I have them ALL (tour models only). I can take some pics later you can see how it looks after a full 18 holes.

We look forward to seeing the pictures. Keep in mind, that durability is INSANELY subjective. You playing a wet course in the morning vs. me playing a very dry course in the afternoon and hitting every bunker on the way to the green will be the test of time. I'll say that prior gen TP5 showed every little flaw. That outer most paint layer was crap-sh**. Like, Kirkland original 4 piece crap, like Volvik S4 crap etc. Not good.

Yellow TP5 is decent. Could be better but, for what it is, it's decent.

For reference, i played at 11:00 am here in texas at 100+ degree weather, Super dry as expected i texas. Went into 2 greenside bunkers but broke my GIR record with 15, so very little chipping around the greens besides the 2 bunkers.

i dont know of the color makes the marks really hard to see or something but it looks almost perfect to me. You can see some slight marks and one bigger scuff (might have hit a cart path or tree, not sure). But this beats any other ball i have played after 18 holes (im playing with mizuno mp20 blades if that makes any diff)

Looks like it held up great. Ball manufacturing / consistency is an art. Comparing results and batch numbers is a real thing too. Case and point, Srixon Z-stars cracking at the seams and some having no problems.

Another small part of durability also comes from the players themselves. Your equipment and grooves might matter some but, your swing speed and angle of attack can shred a cover to bits.

Im almost done with my Nike RZN platinums and will be moving into my yellow TP5x. Had to play a sleeve earlier this year And liked them
