Cheap/mid-range alternative to ProV1x

I'm currently looking for cheap/mid price ball as an alternative to ProV1x. It hurts a little more to lose a $50 a dozen ball than a ball that may be $30 to $40 a dozen ball. So in this economy, I feel a cheaper ball that is similar may be more ideal for some people.

 

I'm not particularly brand loyal balls as long as they perform well and feel good to me. Currently I'm playing Srixon Z-Star XV and Wilson FG Tour X (haven't had a chance to try 2014 FG Tour though). I'm open to any suggestion.

2013 Nike 20XI-X can be had for $30 retail a dozen or even cheaper online...

Another really good ball for cheap money is the Maxfli U4/X which is around $20 retail... Performs very close to a ProV1X

You can keep playing your ProV1x balls by getting them from www.lostgolfballs.com for under $30 per dozen in AAAAA (like new) condition. I have purchased from them many times (as have others here) and they are fantastic sellers.

I don't know if the NXT Tour would be comparable. Plus with all the present close-out deals on balls it's often more expensive.

I find it to be longer and more stable to the V1x though not quite as spinny into the greens (which suits me, because I'm a high spin player anyhow) and it has similar feel around and on the greens. And, the ionomer cover makes it more durable. But, that's just my take on it......
It is in the upper price range from the others i mentioned, though.

I have tried the Maxfli U4/X. It's an amazing ball for the money at $19.99 (you have to find it on closeout though). I also bought a bunch of Lethal "practice" balls for $19.99. Those are nice balls as well.

keep checking in Aldi, they were recently selling a dozen pro v1x like new, plus a dozen pinnacles thrown in for £12 a box !!

hurricanegolf has the last gen Z star XV for $25/doz and regular z star for 22.49. I stocked up.

Maybe the Chrome or Chrome plus would be a viable alternative. Both golf balls get a lot of good reviews on here.

I feel like these are slightly overrated, at least the 2013 versions were. I tried nearly all of them and none really had much check around the green along with even spin control from pitch shots which really surprised me? Maybe it was just me though!
