Yeah that looks like a good track. I generally like a course with some hills with emphasis on 'generally'.
It is a fun course Steele47, but there are more difficult ones in the area. I haven't gotten sick of it yet!

Hole-1 is downhill typically into the wind and a pretty easy drive, so long as you keep it center or right center, as the green is protected by trees and fairway bunkers to the left

Hole-2 is flat up until around 100-yards out where there is some undulation that can make approach shots tricky (that is unless you bomb a drive and fairway wood get home in two)

Hole-3 is easy, just hit the green!

Hole-4 is a short par-4 but I've never driven the green as the the fairway drops then elevates up approximately 25-feet to a well protected green; also this dogleg right slopes into OB

Hole-5 is the toughest hole on the course as a solid drive is demanded with a fairway that slopes hard into trouble (not a slicer's hole), then your approach is often a downhill lie hitting to an elevated green

Hole-6 is my favorite par-3 on the course ranging from 210-225 yards with a beautifully framed green

Hole-7 only has some links-style mounds on the right rough, which of course is the best angle of attack to the green

Hole-9 +270 yard drives will usually leave you a flat approach shot

Hole-10 a 210-220 yard drive placed between the fairway bunkers is your best flat approach

Hole-11 a 300-yard drive will put you into a compressed fairway with trouble left and a undulated fairway, which can leave a risk/reward decision to go at the green in two (I've left more than a few balls in that water hazard)

Hole-12 safe bet is a 3-4 wood to hold back from OB and a creek

Hole 18 the middle/left fairway bunker often catches my drive, unless I can hit a baby fade. Another hole not for slicers as the dogleg right will pull your ball into the woods or really deep bermuda grass

Beautiful course, thanks for sharing those pictures. Looks really lush and well maintained.

Good natural light and Photoshop go a long way to cleaning up course maintenance!

 • 2 weeks later...

So after not being able to play for two months, I was able to get out to hit a bucket of balls and play a round. I noticed something...

I knew I had a bit of a strong grip last season, but for some reason my tendency this last week on the range was REALLY strong which led to some low ball flight and nasty closed hooks. I forced myself to make adjustments back to neutral; what a foreign feeling. What happened these past two months?

When corrected my ball flight was back to the right trajectory and powerful with more motion in my wrists through impact, however misses now are fades (as opposed to my normal draw). I need to spend some time on the range squaring up the club face, and hit down the line.

Thanks Architect - look forward to further updates. I did read on here somewhere the torque testing method for Ping shafts uses a 2lb weight as opposed to the standard 1lb weight most other OEMs employ. Not sure if there is any merit in that. This leads to higher ratings on their shafts.

The TFC in the 3 wood I tested went dead straight (I normally play a baby fade). I tested on quite a windy day and it sliced through the wind. The Tour 80 shaft had similar results with a firmer more "metallic" feel. I would be happy with both.
I highly recommend the Tour 80. After not touching my clubs for two months, my swing speed was 109-110 mph in January. I do not swing out of my shoes, but do give a little more emphasis with the driver. I try to stay smooth with my fairway wood. On the course the spin rate and ball flight seem about right with the Tour 80. The feel is great (stiff but not boardy). I am loving the G30 so far. It was the right move for me from the R1.

The TFC in my fairway wood definitely spins more, and borderline balloons with some of my strikes. I'm not sure about this shaft yet, and will give it another month or so, but may end up changing to the Tour 65.

Thanks for the update Architect. I shall definitely put the 80 in the mix when I come to test the G30 and LS Tec.

That glove looks like you have just installed Golf Pride's new '360 Sandpaper' Grip.

Ha! The NDMCs do have some bite for sure!

The Titleist gloves seem to hold up much better. The good news is it shouldn't take long to burn through this pack and forget my mistake!

My grip tends to default to much stronger than normal after just a few weeks off. After 9 holes at 27 degrees and wind on Dec. 13, I didn't hit a shot until late January. Sure enough, I came back and hit some low pulls and smother hooks. For me, a less strong/neutral grip is something I'm still trying to make second nature, so the break probably made me reset back to what was more familiar.

I just ordered a matching 5-wood headcover from Iliac, and will post a photo once it arrives in a couple weeks. The one I have from last season held up great and is wearing like a baseball glove.

I appreciate it! I'll check your WITB soon to see yours as well. What model/color did you get?

I don't know, a Vapor bag would be pretty sweet as a second bag. I sure don't have the time/money to justify it though!

They are as good as anything I've tried. A lot of forgiveness in a relatively clean, midsize look. That said, always looking for something else- might go i25, rsi 2, ap1, etc. if I get bored of them.
