Am I the only one who is seeing the men's tournament on the golf channel even though it's 7:10 eastern time and the LPGA is supposed to be on?

In the shop I am watching the LPGA event on TGC... but I am in South Carolina

By Ryan Lavner Mar 20, 2014, 3:59 PM CDTAllergic reaction: Bubba withdraws after 83 in Rd. 1

ORLANDO, Fla. – Bubba Watson shot an 11-over 83 Thursday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and withdrew after the opening round, citing allergies.

Watson made an 11 on the par-5 sixth hole at Bay Hill, where he pumped three tee shots into the water. He also made a triple bogey (on 18), three bogeys and a lone birdie. It was his second-worst score on the PGA Tour, behind only his 84 in the 2008 Memorial.

Prior to this week, Watson hadn’t finished worse than second in his last three stroke-play events, including a victory at Riviera.

On Thursday afternoon, the 2012 Masters champion tweeted this:

It's hard to focus when you're heads all discombobulated from medicine and pollen #spellcheck

— bubba watson (@bubbawatson) March 20, 2014

Last year, Watson told reporters that he doesn’t play in Tampa anymore because of allergies. “Every day of my life I take allergy pills, nose spray and eye drops,” he said at the time.

Seriously, you finished the round, and your allergies bothered you. I can understand that, but tomorrow could be a completely different thing. If you're still a sneezy, water-eyed mess, then w/d tomorrow morning.
it seems like everyone in orlando is half sick from allergies. the wind was really bad the last few days and almost everyone i know has a head cold now. im only at the tournament cause id never miss it for any reason
I'm an allergy sufferer too, but if you gutted out the first round, you should at least wait till tomorrow to see if that changes and decide whether to w/d there. JMHO.
i saw bubba on 8 (17) and he honestly looked like crap. you could tell he was sick
At least he finished, but honestly, you don't need to WD at the end of the round. Medicate and see what happens tomorrow morning. He would have an afternoon tee time. I'll stand down. If he was that miserable, then OK.
I agree, but if you're sick, you're sick. Put yourself in his shoes, you're 21 shots behind the leader on the first day, and sick, it's kind like what's the point. Just go home and get better. I'm sure if he was 5 off the lead he would have stuck it out with tons of meds. He said on his twitter sorry to the fans and stuff.
I think pulling out after a bad round for allergies is a gutless move. But also a very smart move. He had nothing to gain from playing on in that sort of form. He doesn't need to have hs confidence destroyed further by struggling another 3 days, or worse losing his game and his confidence. Better to put it down to being sick and forget about it and look to the Masters with confidence.

There is a Bubba thread on that topic so haters give it a freakin rest. Looks like Ryo Ishikawa is playing well at -7. Nice to see JB Holmes at -4 after his operation a while ago. I am amazed he can still play after that delicate operation.

Well you generally use a neurosurgeon for both if you want the best outcome. I know a little bit about the subject as I am doing a project with a neuro and my neighbor is an orthopedic surgeon.

JB was very lucky because: 1. Serious and delicate operation. 2. His balance could have been easily off after the operation.

But haters gonna hate and are easily amused.

Poor Bubba. Would have loved to see the steam coming out of his ears after hitting those balls in the water.
I was there today with my son and we were at the T box on 6 when Bubba dumped the 3 balls in the water.
I think he knew he was going to withdraw and just wanted to entertain everyone at the T box.
He was aiming so far left he was facing the people behind him when he teed off. He was not trying to drive the green
but he did take a line further left then I have ever seen anyone else take on 6. He took the same line on balls 2 and 3.
4th time he aimed further right. He was laughing the entire time, even joked about running out of balls.
Zero steam coming from his ears.

Scott had the putter rolling ! Great to see him playing well in the lead up to major season. Honestly don't like Bubba so it's kinda funny to see him fore off an 83, though if his allergies are really that bad, I do feel for him but at the same time allergies don't affect your golf game that much.

You're killing me with that avatar tbowles411...who is that?

The majors have taken over the game and and everyone is doing whatever they feel gives them the best chance at the Masters. He played like crap, and just wants to get out of there without losing too much confidence with the Masters less than a month away.

I really want to see him play live, he has one of the most interesting games out there, but his overexposure since his major win has just worn me out on seeing him on tv for awhile.

I am honestly glad to hear that. Bubba would be so much fun to watch golf if he cut out the whining and so on.

To enjoy golf and life in general you have to learn to laugh at yourself

Interesting note regarding Scott is that he said his round today felt like a round that kick-started his (almost) three wins in Australia, interesting to see if this turns into some majestic golf over the next couple of weeks - ahem, the Masters.

I'd love to see Adam go on a tear. It's his time.

LMAO!

I was just cruising this thread for giggles while having dinner with my wife. She's just a casual player but puts up with my borderline obsession with the game and watches it. I mentioned to her what a disaster Bubba's round was. I then mentioned that he withdrew....due to allergies.

Her response:

"Ya sure!" :stink:

If she recognizes that, maybe there is some validity to the criticism of him??? LOL!

How did Duval get in???
Duval is playing???? Robbing another battler who deserves a spot more than Duval.
How so?
I'm assuming he snuck in through the back door on a sponsors invite. If he earned his spot through a Monday qualifier then all power to him.

I think it's going to be a great weekend at Bay Hill; great leaderboard and fantastic weather.

Watch out for GMac. He is really feeling it on the greens. I haven't seen him putt so well since 2010.

Harris English is cracking me up, in a good way. Every time I see him his swagger is more pronounced. I think he truly believes he's a stud. Many people do not realize that Harris leads the TOUR in top ten finishes this season. A signature victory is next on the hit list.

I've noticed that as well. Walks around like he's ranked #1. Far too cocky. Plus he decks himself like a guy in his 40's.......loves his brown and tan.
