Just sold my SC Studio Stainless Newport 2.5 and bought a buttonback GSS insert Newport 2. Too much toe hand in the flow neck. Worked out to be pretty close to even though, so I'm stoked.

Oops. Looks like the real buttonbacks are the ones with the three screws down the middle? This is just the normal Studio Style with the two screws in the cavity to hold the insert to the face. Guess my buddy and I are ignorant of the right SC terminology.

Can anyone tell the difference between German Stainless Steel and Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, or Americanese SS? I wouldn't think so, but I was more concerned with getting a little less toe hang than the flow neck.

I never thought a full toe hang putter would work for me and it was the last SC I tried in the store (and it was only on a whim that I actually picked it up to try ) but my alignment was significantly better with this putter than my own Odyessy 330 Tank and any other putter in the store I tried.

I'd have to think it's a factor. Though I tried an Odyssey 9 --- both are pretty damn close in design --- and I wasn't as accurate with it.

 

No lie, I was hitting 25' putts with different putters and having usual results --- making the odd one, close misses --- but nothing was standing out. First shot with the Golo 3 was dead centre in the hole. So was the next. I spent about two hours in the store comparing mine and many other putters and it wasn't even a close competition.

 

I think the flared neck allows me to see down the line a bit easier. I really like the double white lines in my 330 Tank for alignment but evidently the Golo 3 design appeals to my vision better.

 

I was really, really shocked at the results I was getting. Everyone's probably tried different drivers and seen different and significant results but I've never experienced such a dramatic difference with a putter.
