I was actually thinking of starting a thread about the topic that is now trending in this thread. The raw finish.

I was really stoked to get my hands on some current model tour issue raw Nike wedges which will back up my aging original VR V10 groove model.

Then, I got to thinking how silly it seemed that I was chasing raw versions of a wedge, it's almost like we have gone in reverse. It's been darn near 20 years since the Cleveland RTGs were first around and I remember all the way back then how cool they were. I was a junior golfer and everyone had to have one.

Now, after all those years the lions share of tour players still play raw wedges and yet most of the big manufacturers no longer make them available! Nike has the Satin Chrome and Black Oxide, Vokey has three finishes, none of which are raw, unless you pay $350 for a hand ground model, Cleveland has a black finish and a satin finish only, although their raw tour models are pretty easy to find. TaylorMade's new wedges look very nice and the satin finish is impressive, but no raw models...

The only reasonable explanation I have heard from anyone is that the raw models don't look so good in a retail store when Average Joe golfer is looking for a wedge. Other than that, color me confused by this trend.

Perhaps Nike can be on the cutting edge of making Raw wedges available to the public again!?

I think it would be a huge hit. Nike's forged wedges are the best feeling wedges I have gamed, relative to a cast Vokey in particular. That pure forged feel and raw finish at retail could be a real winner.

With Tiger's continued presence- notwithstanding the injuries- and Rory's utter dominance, I'd think all the marketing that would be required would be to point out that they bag raw wedges!

I'm still gaming Raw XFT's. Nike is insane not release these raw. Would probably game one if so!

For lads looking for raw finish, the black oxide is basically a raw that looks ok as long it is on the shelves. If you put it in a bucket of coke for a couple of hours it will be as raw as it gets. Done it myself.

These questions were asked to the Oven people at the Q&A a couple of months ago. This is basically what the Nike guys said. So VR forged can be bought RAW. X3X not though.

I have been intrigued by the toe sweep wedges since they came out. The design just seems to make sense to me. That said, I think the 50* is the prize of the post. What a sick looking wedge! Nice stuff, Easyyy!

If you put the current Black Ox VR Forged wedges in coke, you will hav a raw wedge in a few hours. Works perfectly.
