Convinced 90% of my issue is anxiety driven. I can make all kinds of different techniques work well during practice. Took a long time to become a good putter trying differing styles, strokes, mindsets. I will become a better than average chipper/pitcher...just don't know when.lol
I agree with you that your chipping issues are mental. I don't agree with what he is teaching you, but you have enough of skill to become proficient at it. The way you can hit the other shots, the chips should be a piece of cake for you. You'll get it.

As for 3Js question, a lot depends on where I am. I'm down here holding the fort while OW is back in MI, and down here, you almost have to use a lofted wedge. The bermuda grass can really grab the ball if you put the spin on it. Up north, though, I like to use 5i through PW depending on the shot, and the best ones have a quick check and then roll out. Can't do that here. But I would call myself a feel chipper moreso than a technique driven one, after the ball position is taken into account.

A lot of snow here in west Michigan, but I hear places like Ann Arbor have hardly any snow at all. Anyone know of any courses that may be open by Sunday if it isn't raining?

You can still see grass poking through the snow at my house in Canton, but I doubt it will melt enough to play by Sunday. It's not supposed to get above freezing until tomorrow, and I doubt that'll be enough time for it all to melt. It will probably be gone by Monday when it's supposed to be above 50*.

Good to know, thanks. I was hoping it was currently just a light dusting on the ground that would all melt with the rain tomorrow.

It has only been 3 weeks and I'm already getting antsy. It's going to be a LONG winter.

I guess it's possible it might melt enough tomorrow if we get rain, but it would have to be quite a bit of rain, because they're calling for freezing drizzle in the morning, so that doesn't give it a lot of time to melt in the afternoon and evening. But it is supposed to get up to around 45, so that with some rain might take care of it.
Even if it does melt, it would be like soupy mush out on the course. It doesn't matter much to me, i'm still rehabbing my RC repair, but for the rest of you, it looks like it might be over for this year, we'll see. It's best to start thinking about winter projects, maybe a golf trip somewhere warm. I am thinking of building a putting green for downstairs, just trying to get my plans in order.
I'll play anywhere they'd let me out regardless of conditions. A golf trip later into the winter sounds awfully good too though. If you end up building that putting green, would you be so kind and post some pictures to show it off? I'd love to see it.

If golf isn't an option, a driver fitting sounds good. Based on past conversations in ATMG, it sounds like Carl's and Miles of Golf are the best around? Anyone prefer one over the other? Or know of anywhere closer to GR with the shaft offerings and trackman setup Carls and Miles of Golf have?

My wife and kids are out of town for a few days, so I'm on my own for the first time in years. As you can probably tell, I'm trying to make the most of it.

Maple Hill in Grandville has a Trackman and pretty much just stock flavor shafts in their fitting carts.

Golf Emporium up in Rockford/Greenville has a Flight Scope that you can hit to an outside range with a 50" LCD attached. Heated and stock fitting carts.

You won't find anything exotic over here...that is over in the D. I would suggest Carls for that kind of fitting, Greg or Peter are Master Trackman fitters.

You can't go wrong with either, but if you do decide to go to Carl's, make sure you go to the one in Bloomfield Hills, not Plymouth. Bloomfield has the Launch Pad, which is as nice a fitting setup as I've seen. Miles is more basic, but their fitters are good and they have all the gear that you'd want to try out (which can also be said about Carl's).

The Lions are decent but did you really expect them to win the last two games on the road to superior teams. I'm just hoping they can turn things around to win the next four games against "inferior" opponents. Then we get hammered to finish the year in Green Bay.

I think it's time to really start worrying about Stafford. Especially because we're stuck with him for at least another couple of years until it's even conceivable to move on from him without destroying the salary cap. The last two games are really troubling, especially since he's has all of his main weapons.

3Jack, Stafford is an average quarterback and will never bring us to the Superbowl. There are only a handful of Brady, Manning, and Rodgers out there.

If we had a running game, it would open up play action and take some pressure off the receiving game.

How come you didn't mention the last 3 Super Bowl winning QBs?? :)

I don't think you necessarily need one of those guys to win the Super Bowl, but they certainly help. Seattle has certainly done it with defense. I don't anyone would call Russell Wilson "elite." That being said as good as the Lions Defense numbers are this year I don't think anyone is intimidated by them like they were Seattle's last year.

It's a chicken or egg thing, isn't it? Teams aren't scared of Stafford, so they're keying on the run. This offense, and the line, especially, are built to throw the ball, and if your QB can't even complete 40% of its passes against what's really a pretty average defense, that's a problem. You can win a Super Bowl with an average quarterback, but you can't win one if your average QB is taking up $20M of your salary cap, keeping you from spending money on other positions. The Lions got screwed by Stafford being the #1 pick under the old system before the rookie salary scale (same thing with Suh), which inflated his current contract, as well.
