I've never had any issues with full shots, partial shots, tight lies, long rough, or opening the face in a trap with my 56 toe sweep. I keep reading it here but I've never understood it. Guess I'm lucky

I found the honeymoon period to be short lived with the 58 TS. It works great out of the sand if you keep it square, but once you open it up no good. It's great out of the long high rough. 3/4 shots on the tightest fairways didn't work the best.

DS worked great for any lie, but in the bunker its too much bounce for me.

Square grind is just right for me.

Same here. Gotta keep the TS square in the bunkers. Then it's really good. I didn't mind the 3/4 shots. Full shots sucked though.

That's interesting to see you guys keeping the face square in the bunker with the TS. I thought I read that it was meant to be that way but I'm the opposite. If I keep it square I get a bit more digging but when I lay it open a bit I get a nice skim though the sand and the ball comes out high and soft.

I don't really understand it either. Maybe because our bunkers always seem thin on sand. But when I would open up the TS my results were horrible.

Well, after a one day trial, the TM EF is what I needed for full and 3/4 shots, sand, and for chipping/pitching from a variety of lies. Just what the Toe Sweep wasn't for me. Still love the DS 60 - exceptionally versatile.

Okay, ill go 50 and 56SS and 60DS

I always had a lob wedge that excels on tight lies even when layed open. So 60TS is out.

Thanks for your answers guys you really confirmed me Im right with my thoughts

I just ordered the 56 and 60 SS, I have the x3x wedges now, so I am hoping the Engage will be better.

You have the Dual Wide X3X? Why didn't you go for a DS Engage?

I liked the square better, I have a TS 60 in the x3x. I had a DS engage 60 when they came out, did not care for it. And I don't like the TS from the fairway or tight lies, always wanted to squirt right on me.

I also have both in 58 TS. Just ordered a square 58. I just love how the square Enages set up.

  • 1 month later...

Would the bounce be affected too much negatively if the 58 was bent to 56?

Approximately 1:1 ratio of loft:bounce, so for each degree you bend the wedge strong you lose 1 degree of bounce. You also minimally increase offset when you strengthen lofts if I'm not mistaken. I believe dual sole is ~13 degrees of bounce, so you'll end up with 11 if you bend to 56. I've thought about doing this as well, I have the 60 dual sole and would love a 56.

I've thought about this. I am going to 5.5s from 6.0 in VPC for a little extra yardage. You have same flex in wedges as irons? Distances the same as with stock? Flight? Thx

I'm playing Modus 3 120 Stiff in my irons. My PXI's are 6.5's. I was looking for a flatter ball flight with more spin and bite and that's exactly what I got. Half shots with my 52 wedge are perfect.

Tempted to get this wedge. Would have been an easy choice if it was dual sole.

I had first generation toe sweep. It was decent. But I like the dual sole more.

Spent literally 2 hours with my new 60* TS today. 45 min in the bunker and a hour-ish around the putting green. Absolutely amazing wedge! Never had Nike wedges and this is the first one to come in from the 3 I've ordered. The spin coming off this face is incredible. My shag tube is full of last years Chrome Softs and I could literally chuck everything as close to the hole as possible and it stopped still on a dime. Can't wait to see how the DS and SS compare to the TS. I literally didn't catch the leading edge one time today. Awesome club!

I think I bought the last DS 58* on eBay, and I'm going to have it bent to 56* since they don't make a DS 56*... Not to mention got it for a steal of a price even when I reshaft it

Got the 52 SS out for some full shots and greenside chips today. Really liked it and thinking I won't have it bent strong a degree. I'll have to play it some to determine that. The 58 DS did not agree with me at all. I was chipping to a left to right sloped hole and everything wanted to go left. I tried opening up the face more and realigning myself but did not like the look at address that way. Idk what it was! The 52 SS and 60 TS were great almost literally every chip.

I didn't get take the 58 DS to the bunker yet though and I don't know if I want to even have it bent strong now. The whole purpose of the 58 was to make it a 56 but I may try a 56 SS so I don't lose any bounce. But how will the SS do out of the bunker? My 60 TS wasn't great with full shots and I do take full shots with a 56 from the fairway so I don't think the a 56 TS would work. Decisions decisions!
