Jdm wedges

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm building a jdm iron/wedge set. Just picked up some nice iron but can't decide on wedges.

Need opinions please

Which are the best jdm wedges and why in your opinion?

No limit to grind bounce or any other specs. Wide open question.

Thnx.

I like the Yururi Tataki wedge, the Epon 210 GX, and Miura wedges. There are a bunch of other great ones out there.

Fourteen are my favorite, mine are a little older (M5's) but I will play them until they're dull and then buy some more Fourteens!

Amazing feel, control, and looks

Fourteen and Yamaha.

However, my favorite JDM wedge of all time was the Mizuno Faldo edition, but those are't so easy to find in decent conditon, so I'd go with any of the above mentioned wedges.

As always, find the loft and bounce that suits your game and playing conditions. Also make sure that the shaft weight works for you, since most JDM wedges have stock NS Pro 950 shafts, which would be too light if you have heavier weight shafts in your irons, especially in the wedges you take full swings with.

thats an impossible question.

what irons did u get for a start ?
fat sole , thin sole bec there no point matching some prgr nablas with a set of miuraisms now is there ?
conversly having aset of tourtsage xwedge and a set of xxio GI is crazy u r not gonna get any similararities to your bag.

same as gaming DG s400 shafts in yr iron and matching the wedge shafts with NS 705 wrap tech ur not gonna have a decent match

so depeeing on yr irons, we can help with wedges.

just saying oh i like epons is poinltess

owari !

That was available ineurope too. I've got a feeling it was cast(!) as well. Although I could be thinking about the Adams version.

U have miura irons, so get miura wedges. I disagree with tsupo, wedges from fourteen, miura and japan cold titleist forged all rule!!!!! matching...most pga tour pros play a diff putter and wedges from there irons..well pga tour in usa..
I think you are missing Tsupo's point. He's not saying a certain club is bad, he's saying that things like bounce and sole shape are important, as well as matching the shafts in irons and wedges.

There's much more to fitting a wedge set into a bag than just the brand name. The best players in the world for sure play different brands in wedges, but they think of things like lofts and grinds which match their set and playing conditions, as well as shafts that match their swing and iron set configuration. It's all about buying clubs to make a cohesive set and not just buying parts individually.

Most of the people are not going to get the same grinds, if they know what that is, in there irons and wedges.
Of course not, since nobody makes a 4 -pw set with a K or M grind, as far as I know. However, the pros do make sure to propperly fill the loft gaps in their set and also choose grinds which match their swing and playing conditions.

Again, kind of missing the point, which is that just saying a brand won't help somebody without considering many other things. Epon, Miura, Fourteen, ect. all make great stuff, but there's more to building a set than just a brand name.

The aspect seldom considered by a lot of golfers in a wedge is its perceived head weight. Shaft and grip play into it. Miura heads Tend to feel heavier than a lot of other brands. You note this when your other irons are appreciably lighter feeling. The head weight, to Jack, is a defining aspect to Miura wedges. Even using a s400 shaft on wedges doesn't seem to offset that heavier perceived feeling in a Miura wedge. Your experiences could be different than his.

I play Fourteen RM12 currently. Almost went w/ Yururi Tours/Chili's but found a great deal on the Fourteens. If you consider Bridgestone a JDM brand I still think their head shape and offsets are the best suited to my eye.

Had a Miura K grind but it was so damn beautiful I never played it. Ended up selling to a friend for cheap.

There is a dealer who special orders miura k grind 64 degrees and charges 550-599 and gets it. Because it is special made for this retailer..people love the k grind in 56 and 60...the miura grind wedges are awesome feel and work great. Fourteen wedges are very good and for those who wants special grind the titleist forged wdges with diff grinds are great

Trying to figure this out myself. I have Mizuno MP-54 4-p and looking to upgrade my Jaws wedges and considering Yururi tour with Nippon Modus 130 shaft. Through fairwaygolfusa.com it comes up to be about the same ballpark as a Vokey with the same shaft.

Yururi with a Best Grip leather grip, and a Nippon Modus 130, seems like a nice setup. If it doesn't work out I can off it on the BST I'm sure... I just gotta grow a pair and pull the trigger!!
