Hell, the poll in the original thread had more people than that saying they wanted one. I don't even think the putter would have been made without all of the fanfare created here on WRX and all the awareness that it brought to Nike Golf's front door!

I must say the "B" option are beautiful putters. Great option for those unable to purchase this one. Great job Nike releasing the putter! Hopefully more to come in the future.

You're really that salty you didn't get one? Get a grip man. Everyone knew these would be limited and that Nike would do it the same way they do shoes. The putter wouldn't be nearly as cool if everyone was able to get one. Give the craze a chance to die down and prices will drop substantially on the secondary market.

As good of an OEM as Nike can be, they are still a business and their sales model is primarily driven by HYPE. They still do this with shoe and clothing releases, and this release was no different. It was quite tame actually. Here's some more tips for the future:

Don't refresh the page once you have the add to cart button. As you saw today, it's tough to get that to pop back up once the items are all in carts.

The wish list trick works.

Nike doesn't always send the "sold out" tweet anymore. USUALLY, once the product is officially gone the page will be taken down and you'll get the "product not available" message. The page is still currently up though and they did just tweet sold out.

There was no line system for this release (this is good, the line system makes it much tougher to get through).

Mobile tends to work better without the line system but that's a YMMV.


Will add more if I can think of anything else. I predict getting them through the other retailers later this week may be easier (golfsmith, golf Galaxy, pga SS, etc), but it will be FCFS most likely and the quickest to checkout will get it. There could potentially be some site issues and cancellations if the load is high on those sites, especially if any of these being flipped on eBay sell quickly.

We didn't want the ugly black painted looking putter. We have been tweeting for this one. And we didn't have a prayer. I won't be buying anything else Nike... I've asked them if they'd close my Nike.com account and remove me from all mailing lists and email distribution lists.

Happy for all those that got one! If you would have asked me yesterday I would have said it didn't matter if I got one I will just get the B2 if I don't get one. Yeah ummm no, Nike may have lost a long time devoted fan and yes I know they don't care. I need to calm down before making any decisions.

I'm kind of shocked seeing all that has happened with this today.

I'm not going to lie... I'm really surprised that Nike didn't give the guys on WRX an option to purchase one of these before the public release after they were the driving force behind it in the first place.

I don't even want to buy one of these putters, but I'm disappointed... and I have no doubt that Nike Golf will probably lose a few customers over this.

No need to calm down. They kicked the cat on this one. WRX is responsible for getting this released after repeated tweets, a 120+ page thread etc. and they didn't give anyone here much or a prayer of getting one. I'm done with Nike. I've contacted them asking them to close my account and I will be writing them and formally requesting they close my account, remove my name, address and email address from their database and do not send me anything else related to sales, product, etc.

I think they would have sold 200 just as quickly if they offered it only to WRX, and some folks would have missed out on that as well. It's just one of those things.

Congrats to everyone that got one. After the buzz settles down, I think the market will bring them down to what folks are paying for used Byron DH89s and Bettinardi BB0s.

No matter how Nike did it there would have been complaining. If they would have made 1000s it wouldn't have been "special" or like Rorys. If they had done WRX first word would have spread and then how would you decide who had first shot? And who would make the decision? If Nike raised the price then others would complaint. This happens on every limited release - people rant and rave and say they'll never buy from X company again.

In stores and no local stores are getting them. The places getting them will get 2. And if I'm a betting man, employees or someone in the back will buy them before the store ever officially opens. They're not going to be on websites. Same way with Jordan's. Someone will get all the popular sizes before they hit the store. Like a buddy that collects those. He gets every pair of popular sized J's the store he goes to has and gets a personal pair of 13's and gets them the night before the official release.
