We all agreed that 13's pin placement was pretty much impossible. I think I had 115-20 in from the left side of the fairway and didn't bother thinking of trying to get it close (I bladed it to the back which left me a sort of crazy putt but whatever. Story of my rounds).

I played the SR3x yesterday during the first round. They're not the most durable golf balls I've played. I think I actually put a cut into one at some point. But they are long and spin really well around the greens. I'm happy I got them.

 

I was playing the same ball for most of the round. Agree with the assessment - good golf ball that can be had for relatively cheap (aren't they supposed to be top-tier balls? I got a dozen for like $25 at GolfGalaxy) that get scratched up kind of easily.

 

In other news, since Sneek didn't include it in his recap, I'd just like to say he had to resort to competing against himself for CTP on #7. Sneek was closest at like 7 feet in round one, and since no one got closer he decided to beat himself on the second round, sticking it to 4ish feet. After that he mumbled something about lackluster competition or something

Still too busy for a recap, but need to say thanks and kudos to Eagle, Stix, et al for organizing and putting on a great event. Good seeing thread members too.

 

Congrats to Domes for a career round (to date), while being such a great playing partner, along with City and Bayrat too. Wish I could have stayed for the 2nd 18 and festivities.

 

Also, no one mentioned this I don't think, but on the 8th hole, Domes pulled a drive into the trees left, and his stance was such that his right foot was on a rock/trunk, about a foot or so higher than his left foot. Essentially all his weight on his bum... I mean... reconstructed... knee, he hit a solid punch shot that took one bounce and got on the green from 60ish (?) yards. That was another shot that kept the round going.

 

I probably had more fun rooting for Domes than actually playing yesterday.

TRU Part 2: Highlights

 

#1 - I top hooked one into the hazard on my first shot of the day. Ended up finding it (thanks to David30) and making bogie. Made a nice up and down par in the second round. Siegel almost drove the green in round 2.

 

#3 - All pars in the group during round 2.

 

#5 - I hit 2 really good hybrids off the tee here. Had 65 yards in round 1 and hit what I thought was a nice shot but it ran out to 25'. Had 72 yards in round 2 and played it short of the hole but it checked this time and still had 25'. Par both times. Gmen hit a sweet drive down the tree line and had 40 yards in for his second shot during round 2.

 

#6 - Siegel hit a very good shot out of the left FW bunker onto the green. I have never seen a ball buried as bad as David30's was in the front bunker. Wish I took a picture of it. I lipped out a 12' birdie putt in round 2.

 

#7 - In round one I got a nice kick out of the right rough and it rolled out to 7'. In round 2 I stuffed one to 4'. Hit 52* both times. I like this hole. A LOT.

 

#8 - Siegel drove the green in round one but could only manage a par. I was just off of the green left in round 2 but could not get up and down for the birdie. That front bunker was not a good place to be with that pin.

 

#9 - Gmen hit an awesome chip in round 1 to a foot for a kick in birdie. I was on the green in 2 and made birdie. In round 2 Siegel found the green in 2 and made birdie. He only had like 140 in for his second shot.

 

#10 - This hole got me both times. Drove it into the hazard left during round 1 and into the left FW trap during round 2.

 

#11 - This hole also got me both times. Hit it into the hazard and then into the right bunker. Double. Double.

 

#12 - I made a sweet birdie here in round 2. Hybrid off the tee left me 135 to the pin and I stuffed PW to 6'. So Siegel topped 2 shots into the hazard during round 1. Conversation on tee in round 2:

 

Siegel: "If I mishit this again I am throwing this club into the woods"

Me: "Like for good? Or are you going to go get it?"

Siegel: "Oh I am going to go get it. I paid good money for these clubs"

 

He striped this one.

 

#16 - Siegel made a wrong ball birdie. Siegel: "Did you guys see my ball?" Gmen: "It's on the green. It rolled back off of the collar." Siegel: "Huh. That's a ProV. I'm playing a Callaway. I swear I checked before I hit my ball and it said Callaway. I'm playing this one." Me : Shakes head multiple times.

 

#17 - I had the exact same putt for birdie both rounds. 20' pin high left coming down the hill. Missed it both times.

 

#18 - Gmen hit the house in round 1. Luckily it didn't fall over. I made a 25 footer for birdie in round 1. So, in round 2 I am going for eagle. We all hit nice drives down the right side of the fairway. I had 222 to the pin and hit a hybrid that needed one more yard to carry the front trap. Made a sweet up and down for birdie in front of some fans.

 

Again, such a blast. Need more days like yesterday.
