#6 - I have never seen a ball buried as bad as David30's was in the front bunker. Wish I took a picture of it.

 

I was in that bunker. The sand was like wet, heavy snow. When I stepped into the bunker, my feet instantly dug in a couple inches. I'm pretty wispy, so that's really saying something.

You had to be right on top of the ball to even realize there was a ball there. He took a whack at it and buried it even further.

 

We had a few buried balls in greenside bunkers. I thought most of the sand was soft and wet.

Buried balls reminds me:

1st round #11 I hit a weak fade over into the bunker area. Get up there, no ball. Jump off rock cliff, find 20 balls. Not mine. JJ comes down and takes a look in the bunker and finds my ball. It has nestled between two of the large rocks and about halfway below the level of the sand. It was sitting on sand, but also on to of a large flat rock underneath the sand. I finger bang the sand a little bit to get an idea of how deep I get in there. Everyone says take a drop. NEVER! It needed the utmost perfect of swings to clear the rock, get under the ball, yet stay above the buried rock. It's very difficult to make such a swing with your eyes closed. Wedge - 0 Rock - 1. I did advance it into a playable lie in the bunker though.

 

Also, actual shot of the day:

First round #12. I hit a chunk 5w way right. Gets stuck on that first mound beside the cart path. Cliff hanger lie above my feet. I have 240 to the pin, 200 to clear the hazard. I took a mighty baseball swing to right foul territory. Ball feels splooge worthy off the face. Comes out well left and drawing. It's a beauty. Hits center green, just below the ridge, runs up the back, catches the slope / fringe and nestles to 20ish feet. Best 4 (iron and score) of my life.

Loved reading all the recaps today. And mad props to Domes for the spoogtacular round!

I yelled mashed potatoes after oldberg's drive. Since my voice is as wispy as my body, I'm not sure they heard me.

 

Oh, I heard you but couldn't see you. Would've been better if you had yelled after my 2nd shot (and threw out a "Hit 'em with The Hein!"). I smoked an iron up that hill to about six feet from the cup. Thought it was an easy bird but, just like the rest of the day, I left it short. Those f****** greens cost me (and everyone else) a s*** ton of shots in the first round...well, that and a couple of bunkers, hitting eight drives left, putting two in the water, etc. Miracle that I wasn't in triple digits.

 

Best part of the day for me: Listening to some Kenty stories. Second best part: Listening to Tex work Goose's corner during the 2nd round. Part Mr. Miyagi, part Ty Webb. Good times.

 

Got my new Pro X2 in the mail today. Got a nice discount on it last week so couldn't resist. It's pretty sweet as rangefinders go.

Did the golf board last both rounds? Didn't get a chance to ask if others from PoSho had their golf carts run out of battery power. Dom and mine was on its last juice and luckily we finished.

I played at PoSho and our cart was on it's last legs by the time we finished. The light was on. I was absolutely surprised that they had electric carts there instead of gas.

 

The golf board apparently lasted 18 at PoSho and 36 at Whiskey. Eagle didn't finish his 2nd 18 at Whiskey until at least 11:58 PM, so if his golf board made it I'm impressed. Seems to have at least as good of battery life as a normal electric-driven golf cart.

 

PS you guys are jerks. I saw you roll in a ~15 ft birdie on 18 to steal our skin after we hit it to 3 feet and made bird.

10 pin may have been toughest 2-3 foot putt out on course all day

 

12- I think the play is to leave yourself on flat lie about 160 out.

 

Found that the play on quite a few holes.. 4,5,8,12,14 was for me to hit shorter than driver. Some 3 iron and some 3 wood, but driver was not the play for me.

 

5 and 6 are not drivers. 4 - you need the driver.

1. MANY teams birdied 18 at POSH. So spread that hate around, guys.

 

2. The GolfBoard was only used for 2nd 18 at Hwiskey yesterday. Only rated for just over 18 holes. Mid-day recharge of approx. one hour can get you another 18 tho.

Craziest sully trash story is when he, pq, and I played in downpoor last spring. Was one of the 'play for free as guest days at hobbits' and pq was nice enough to let us join him.
