Where are you playing tomorrow - Chicago (Round2)

HOE was fantastic on Saturday. Weather was better than predicted, greens were smooth and quick, such a change from anywhere else I've played this year. Challenging wind out there, 3+ clubs at times, hit greens with a 7i from 135 and an 8i from 118, was hard to trust but it worked.

Agree. Played out there Sat afternoon. Strangely the wind laid down in the middle of the round, actually started to get warm. Greens were really good. They are aerating today and tomorrow so it will be a couple of weeks before I return. Love that track.

Bummer they're aerating but I understand it. The par three 4th was a real challenge with the wind, 9 iron barely cleared the hazard, at least 3 clubs more than normal.

Ironically, I hit a PW low (intentionally, not the screamer you're thinking about) and it flew into the collection area back left. Bumped a 7 iron, which started about 30 feet right of the cup, dove down to the left about 25 feet and then rolled off the front of the green going right. No doubt you had a better chance of getting up and down from being in front of the green.

Still trying to figure out how you played #7.

When I die my memorial bench is going to be located in that collection area.

#7, the par 3? Had 187 stick, hit my hybrid full into the wind, drew it in beautifully ended up about 18 feet beyond, and above, the hole, knocked the birdie putt about 15 feet by. :censored2:

Yeah, #7. There aren't many holes where you can get away with being above the cup on HoE. That was my "cute" shot of the day. I chipped it about 140 and let gravity and the slope take it down to the hole. Think you gave me a skin on that hole and I'm in your debt for that!

Let me guess...par net birdie.

Could have used that sage wisdom on 13 as well.

Of all times I follow your lead on 12...

Yes, net yes.

You should not have laughed at the strategic positioning for the tee shot on 12! Par net birdie. Ho hum.

Won't even talk about messing up 13 after finding position A off the tee. That was gross, and net bad.

Had one of my worst rounds in 2 years out at Foxford Hills on Sunday...

I don't think having 10-12 shots of Kettle One the night before helped any.

I wasn't hanging whatsoever but I was just "off" with everything.

HoE uses the "small hole" aeration according to J. Vogt so the turnaround shouldnt be as long.

I was coming off the second green when I saw you dragging your carcass off the 18th green. Haha Thought it looked like you but wasn't sure until this thread. Did we play the same course? I hit 7 iron in 4 and 5 iron on 7. Lol

You should have said hi! How did you play? A ho hum 73? VNutz is a big stick as well but maybe a higher ball flight. He was over 6 in two but not sure what he hit in.

It seemed the wind changed and strengthened a few times during the round. Have never played 6 down wind like that.

I would have but I wasn't entirely sure and I was far enough away that I didn't want to look like a maroon! Haha played well, 71. Got refitted for T-MB's earlier this spring and made some spec changes that are really paying dividends.

I hit balls at Top Golf to cap off 3 days in....what does G call it?...Oh yeah, Naperhell. Lol.

Does that give me any street cred for you guys north of Joliet?

Were you up here for Monte Fest?

No. That was the weekend before. 10 year anniversary. Mrs C wanted to get out of Pleasantville (Springfield) for the weekend. So we did some shopping and eating. Went to Wrigley on Saturday. I'd never been there. (Cards fan). I did pick up some Eccos at the PGA SS in Downers Grove. We stayed at the Embassy off of 88. Ate at White Chocolate something or another. It was good. Cooper Hawk Winery across the street was .....meh.

I thought this is about normal for spring aeration.

As for pricing, I agree, but I feel like fewer and fewer courses are discounting rates during aeration.

I have played about 5 or 6 other courses in the Chicago area besides the Cog Hill courses. All their greens were in decent or good shape. Our group has had a Cog tee times since 1991 and we have not experienced the greens being this bad this late (early May). It appears they punched them later this year than years past which makes no sense since we had a mild and early spring. Rumor has it Cog hired a new grounds keeper this year.

As for pricing, Cog would keep the discounted pricing in effect til May 1 in years past.

Oh Geez...does little Danielle resemble any member of the Chicago crew??? You know, there are some pictures floating around...

You asked for this.

Looks a lot like my Mom's baby pic.

You really do hate me, don't you?

Lol @ Cooper's Hawk. "would you like to join the wine club"

I know which White Chocolate you went to. There is a very good Chinese and great wing bar not too far from there.
