Boy at this point I might start looking for a new doctor before he winds up in a motorized wheelchair. With this many "successful" back surgeries how far off is a spinal fusion?

I think even the most ardent Tiger supporter/fan has to admit the prospects of him ever catching Nicklaus is very dim. At this point it seems like a major miracle he will catch Snead.. Hopefully he stops with the weights, running, dalliances, swinging a golf club and enjoys his kids while he can still stand up..

Boy, if a person didn't believe in Karma, Tiger would certainly make one wonder as he has occasionally mentioned Buddhism as something he believed in (in Buddhism Karma is the law of moral causation)
You might want to read more about Buddhism than the Wikipedia stub before explaining it to people on the internet. Karma is exercised over multiple reincarnations not in one lifetime.
Karma is simply action. In Buddhism all action has consequence, which is where we get the somewhat mistaken notion of it meaning "what comes around goes around." Strictly speaking, though, karma is just the action. So perfect action (done with perfect understanding, intention, focus etc) results in positive consequences, imperfect actions lead to poor consequences (and suffering, "samsara," repeated over endless lifetimes until/unless one attains enlightenment).

That said, I suspect any karmic connection to Tiger's ailing body is linked to his choices in golf mechanics, not his choices in women! :)

(now back to golf)

with the advancements in medical technology relating to the spinal column in the last 25 years I sure hope Tiger didn't opt for 80 year old tech and get a spinal fusion.

That would be a bad move all the way around.

I'd say the fat lady is warming up....................
The fat lady done showed up and, instead of singing, sat on Tiger's back and bounced up and down three times.

Feel sorry for him. It was a BIG lady.

I like that Salted Karma that's so popular these days. Candies, ice cream, coffees. It's all good.

Just read about the 2nd back surgery that he just had. Still think he will be fine after he recovers.

Just by reading about it?

Impressive.

I think at this point the real question is, how old will Tiger be, and how many more back surgeries will he have had before the true believers start to entertain the tiniest shadow of the tiniest possibility that Tiger's days of domination are behind him. My money's on 55 and 10.

Meanwhile, take a look at this guy, at this picture taken just the other day, while Tiger was on "bed rest;" pay particular attention to his back:

Rory+McIlroy+Turkish+Airlines+Open+Day+One+z3-WLThVJqzl.jpg

I don't think the amount of scar tissue TW's built up will ever let him look like that again, to say nothing of what's going on with his disks themselves.

When Tiger had his first back surgery I posted the advice I heard from a spine surgeon friend of mine was that he should stay away from golf for at least 6 months. Instead he tried to come back early, I believe he was swinging again in 3 months. Now he is paying the price for that decision with a failed back. I would love to see him play well again, but I don't think it's going to happen. Even winning another regular tournament seems very doubtful, a major, no way. Maybe Tiger should write a book, call it Things I Would Do Differently.

Still a chance if rehab is completed fully, he's still young enough.
BUT, is this the last back issue for him, or the last major injury?

With all the injuries he has had, there is no reason to think he will be free from them in the future. I have no doubt he will give it another go, but hard to see him ever being able to play enough to be a factor again.

There is no way to predict if Tiger is done or not. If you listen to him talk it sounds like He didn't practice much last year because of his back. Whether you believe that or not he clearly wasn't sharp at all and hasn't been since 2013 (when he was arguably the best player on tour again). I think the difference is the work he puts in. I don't think he put a lot of work in the last two years (the reason for that i don't know). If Tiger continues with these habits, yea i think he's done. I think he'll continue to be average at best. But if he finds motivation again - he still has everything he needs to be a top ten player in the world. He's still plenty long to compete with anyone....he just has to get straighter.

You just can't predict a person's motivations when they have they money, they have the fame, and they have the accomplishments that he does. He could very easily retire today and still be arguably the greatest ever. Think about this - how hard would you work if you had enough in savings to retire 10x over? So if he does come back and play well again put that into perspective. Would you work your butt off for something you don't NEED? Many will say "yes" - most of us would not. If he does I would be impressed.
