the rats are more user custom since you can change the weights easily whereas the 009 you cannot.

If you get a Rat, you will be able to somewhat customize with weights to your feel. If you pluck down the $$ for a 009, you get what you get and theres no going back unless you're a tour pro which since you're here asking......

is there a difference in terms of feel? e.g gss vs 009? or tour rat w gss inserts vs 009?
[/quote]

"Feel" is different for everybody. You just have to roll them all yourself and see what your hands/brain come up with as far as "feel" is concerned.
Personally, I think the Scotty's that have a GSS insert, like the Studio Style's and Super Rats, are some of the firmest/hardest feeling putters Cameron makes. The Rats that are deep milled tend to feel a little softer, but that is different for everybody as well. A lot of people equate (in their brain) the lower pitched "thud" that they hear off a deep milled putter face, as "soft". To me, the sound equates to "dead", so my distance control suffers big time with deep milling.
To me, a solid GSS head feels softer than a SS head with a GSS insert (especially with standard depth milling).
A carbon head 009 feels softer to me than a SS or GSS 009.
One thing I will stress however is, when testing different putters make sure you use the same type of golf ball. Makes all the difference in the world.
If you're rolling a Pinnacle, even a carbon head will feel firm. On the other hand, if you go to another shop and roll a Wilson DUO or a Callaway Chrome Soft, they will make the firmest putters feel like butter.

As far as weight is concerned, you can find 009's in 330, 340, and 350 gram heads. You just need to know what your favorite playing weight is and buy it.
It's nice to be able to change the weights in a Rat, but usually once people know what their favorite weight is, they buy the appropriate weights needed to get them there, install them, and never change touch them again.

Cheers buddy. I would like to try a 009 one day. I usually prefer a 360g head weight but i doubt there is any 009 that are 360g. Will probably settle for a 350g. I know that 009 comes with carbon and SSS. I didn't know that they release it in gss?

GSS 009's are out there.
Hey, if you have an extra 7500.00-8500.00 laying around that you don't know what to do with you may as well grab one! ;)

Haha. Yeah but i'm actually very satisfied with my current putter. I don't think a 009 will perform any better. Maybe just for collection sake. :)

Interesting take on the Scotty putters with GSS inserts having the firmest feel. I recall the first Studio Style I tried had the mushiest feel I'd ever experienced.

If you want 360 grams then go with the tour rat with 20 gram weights. Same head as the 009 but the 20 gram weights will get you to 360 gram headweight.

My knowledge on Scotty peaked in 2015. I’ve no idea what Scotty produces nowadays.
