I've never seen this one. But, it's got to be one rare putter.

I really hope this one hasn't been posted yet because I've never seen it. Surely this has got to be one the the most sought after putter on the planet.

Newport midstlant long neck all hand stamped. Not for me but I would say that yes, if it's legit it would be rare. What's with the 'oops' on the face stamping though?

It looks as if the milling marks on the face has been buffed/grinded out. If this is the case then this will lower the price on this putter by quite a bit. However, this would make a great candidate for restoration.

With all due respect, I think 'milling marks' is just another manufactured thing. The faster one pushes the object through the mill the finder the marks are, to a point where they may not appear. In that way, a non-mill-marked putter would in fact take longer to produce and might be of higher quality with more time in the manufacturing process.

 

Now as far as ascetics (sp?) is concerned, I don't care if a putter face has them or not. They don't do anything for the putter - they may affect feel - but feel is something unique to each of us.

 

I maintain the mill marks is another marketing tool of the Camerons, Bettinardis, TP Mills, etc of the world.

 

Not trying to start a fight, and not attacking those who like them.

I'm a CNC machinist to trade, and I have to say, I HATE those "milled faces". If I produced a finish like that on any workpiece I was machining, it'd be straight in the skip, and I'd be looking for another job..as for Bettinardi's assertion that his face milling method of dropping the cutter onto the face is more accurate than cutting across it - jeez, what a load of **** !

I agree with everything Rod just said.... working for Never Compromise Tour Dept many tour players wanted little or no milling markson there one of a kind putters.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the holy grail of Cameron putters would have to be the limited edition Tiger Woods 1997 Masters Champion Teryllium Putter - only 270 were made and Tiger has #001. The rest are probably all in vaults right now.

Milling is desirable in order to take some of the dimple effect off the ball at impact.

Similar to C-grooves, TM putter lines, Zen face markings etc. All roughly the same principle.

 

Works? I don't know, but there is genuine science behind it.

That putter is an extremely rare putter much more so than any of the Tiger Woods limited editions. Here is pictures of a000555. There were never mill marks on this putter and I have never seen the putter in question in any ebay auction and I have been collecting Camerons for 7 years. The description in the registry "Extremely rare piece where Scotty experimented with different neck and head combinations.

The Holy Grail of Cameron putters would have to be Tiger's gamer, the one which he has used since 1999 and still uses.

There is no doubt that Tiger's gamer would be worth the most amount of money, but it would not be my Holy Grail as there have been quite a few replica's and backup putters produced. My Holy Grail Cameron would be a Scottsman 943 as there were only 3 made and no one really knows where they are.

Another Holy Grail putter would be the Classic Mini. Five were produced and there is one sale on record for $35K for the putter.

For me, my Holy Grail putter would be a 350g Garage Napa, 33.5". I would prefer a PP finish due to durability otherwise a 3X OC would suffice. Since a garage putter is made by Scotty at his home shop, this would be my preference! ;)

Only 5 were ever made and those were given to Scotty's friends to commemorate the birth of their first child, along with Summer (IIRC). It is the intended meaning of the putter and that only 5 were made that makes this putter special.

Isn't lamination a layering effect? The layers of metal reminds me of the old laminated woods of yesteryear by pattern. I was referring to the layered look as "laminated".
