PD - Beauties!!! TYFP. Really like the look of those. Play report when you get the chance. Was it you PD that had HC's made from a 'special' leather jacket? IIRC. Are those them? I'm a sucker for kool hc's and those look great.

Pigs - You're on to something. I'm a hack at photoshop.

Ninny.

We agree very much. But we have already found that in so many previous threads.

Could be that your "quest" is based on the instinctive knowledge that - whether in golf or life - uninspected and unevaluated adopition of any idea is the root of slavery??

In a way, yes. We may be arguing semantics but I see it more as the root of ignorance than slavery.

Wolfie - Kudos for going forth into the Land of the Equipment Trolls and laying one on them. Good job and great post. The pomposity on WRX and within Golfdom in general, often has no bounds. Guess there are those that enjoy the perception of coming across as complete DB's.

Thank you for the kind comments, Sir. You are spot on about the pomposity levels amongst certain posters. It's laughable.

Ninz - Excellent HC overhaul, right down to the 1%'er patch. However, don't quite know what the 'squiggly' is over the U. Is it what I think it is? Defacement of USGA merch is liable to get you excommunicated. On second thought, maybe we could create a OGA brand of HC's. Sell millions (or a thousand at inflated prices if they're labeled Tour Issue), all get filthy rich. Of course we'll need to pay Stu his tribute, over an above, as the "Boss of Bosses".

MJ - Good luck to you and Condi.

TY. The Apexs showed up this a.m. during the ritual early morning stroll thru eBay. Well valued based on the condition pics. Already had 5 watchers in the short period of time they were listed. So most likely did not have a whole lot of time to ruminate on them. The '99's have been selling like hotcakes lately. Shafted with Flighted Rifle 5.5's. Shafts that I found agreeable, at least they were back in the day. And acquired without even knowing their bounce.

Haha. Kind of weird I know.

I guess I was thinking of how all these guys have these avatars of sexy women, but Condi being one of two female members of ANGC has something not many women can offer.

She actually intrigues me because I was a big fan of her work before she joined the Bush Administration. After uploading her photo I started thinking that I'll go get her biography from the library and try and gain some more insight into her role under Bush and Cheney.

I'm sure it won't last, but I think it's kind of funny, in a very weird way.

I've also always guessed that the avatar has an effect on likes and wanted to test Condi. :)

Well, she headed up the NSA for 4 years and then Sec of State for 4 years so

likely 99% of what she did will never see the light of day, lol. I would be happy

just to watch her play the piano hehe.

At a point I realized that my search was based on a false premise so to speak. I tried and tried to find THE correct datum that would somehow miraculously make me better. It never happened. Because I found that I was asking the wrong question. Instead of asking “where or what is the truth” I should have been asking “How do I determine what is the truth for me?” Not how can I convince others that this is the truth.

Hi vater, it sure is good to have you on here...

More thought for you. So if you determine what is the truth 'for you', then truth becomes variable, therefore truth is not Truth, only truth. So to convince others that to determine that what is simply truth for them (or what you have determined is the truth for you) is the truth is not really 'The Truth', but a personal interpretation of the truth. There is one Truth, it does not vary, nor is it open to individual interpretation. I think you were right in asking your original question, 'where or what is truth?' because there is an answer.

Isn't this place wonderful? :)

:good:

BIG STU what is your take on installing wooden dowels in a shaft tip?

That is an 'old school" trick. All the old timers did that including my old man. Personally I do not like weight in the shaft or "slugged in the hosel" I will tell you something else a dowel in the tip will affect tip flex also. I have taken light weight wood dowels and stiffened a tip before. LOL the old timers used oak or in my area hickory dowels to add weight. I had an old 1 iron I bought from a yard sale and decided to re shaft it. My wife was in the shop when I was heating it up and she said I smell wood burning Hickory to be exact. Hey we are from the South and we know what burning Hickory smells like. I said yep this club must have been around Charlotte back in the day. I already knew it was slugged in the hosel because I had swung it and I can pick up on that usually unless it has a lot of lead tape on the back. The only thing with a dowel is you need to install it and when the epoxy dries drill a hole down the center for more epoxy to go up to help secure the shaft to the head.

Wherever I go, on a daily basis, I am compelled to agree with him.

In my work as HVAC/building mechanic, I've had, numerous times, to do with what I had on hand. Sometimes, those "funky" repair jobs became permanent. Permanent compared to replacing an OEM part that had a factory predetermined wear and tear span.

When I read replies such as these, it has me seriously wondering where the actual limit to Genius could be.

Representing for my brothas!

Love it ! Thumbs up! I wonder if some of those guys from the USGA are the anon viewers? I never thought it but this OGA thing is taking off. I am playing in a scramble today it is company related. This is my 6th year playing on this team I played on this team before I ever went to work for the company. My boss is worried about someone saying something because he belly anchors the putter. I told him do not worry about it because if anyone says anything at all I can start calling them out on "non conforming" drivers, balls and wedges besides a scramble is an illegial competition any how because you have the ball in hand to begin with. Not even to mention that in those things that the pencil is the best wood in the bag!

The pencil is the best wood in the bag, but the eraser is the irreplaceable 15th club Stu!

LMAO BIG STU, you need to teach the "Chop and Pop" technique to all wide soled golfers. And become an I&A Forum "guru" and WRX site sponsor. StacknTilt smackntizzle!

I'm not going anywhere. And I could care less about the I&A forum. In there the trolls can't even handle their trolling solo so they have to work together like a pack of rats. (Wimps.) Plus there is really no reason to go in there when we have Da Judge on our side.

And LOL the way I see it now, if you don't want to get on board with what I say about the physics, it is not my problem. I'm just trying to help is all I can say to those people. No use giving help when it is not wanted. So I really appreciate the feedback and comments. As long as even just one WRXer still wants to read my "proofs" and DeBunks, I will keep posting them. The club industry has turned the physics nearly upside down with their, at best, HALF-TRUTH version of it, and again that just simply rubs me the wrong way. So if I can help just one golfer see it for what it is, I feel like I really helped someone and that is a personal satisfaction.

I also must confess that I do get a bit of a (figurative) engineer's woody when someone wants to challenge me on something technical. And when I'm 100% confident on it, I'm like a pig in the mud!

Ninja, I thoroughly enjoy every post, so if I haven't said it in while, thank you! For some reason when I want to type something extensive my brain goes a bazillion miles an hour and my typing skills can't keep up. What ends up happening is I lose my point, and train of thought. I'm a much better talker (trust me lol) . So sometimes, when we discuss things that are on the more complex side I freeze up. I will say, I've learned more hanging out here from you, the Judge, Stu, and everyone else than my entire previous 31 years on this Earth. I feel like I've earned a golf diploma. So thank you, and I'll will share this knowledge with my teammates and golf buddies once I'm free and golfing again. I will also share more of my experiences/findings on the course, as they relate to the things we discuss here, with the group once I'm golfing again.

Lastly Ninja, what's your take on finding the "balance point" of a golf ball (check go pro)?? As a former bowler, bowling balls are designed with different shaped cores varying in materials and density. All "hooking" or particle resin/ urethane bowling balls are marked with the CG location. Also, RG has a big influence on rotation (obviously). More weight distributed toward the coverstock equals a higher rg, the ball holds energy further down the lane (good for light/med oil conditions) , conversely a low rg has more mass near the center as a result it's "easier" to rev up, begins hooking earlier due to higher rev rate (good for heavy oil). Guess what I'm saying is I can see how this could be true, but not sure as golf balls aren't designed with weight bias cores (on purpose).........I just confused myself LOL

So, would finding the "balance point" of a golf ball have that big of an effect on putting and full shots? I can see it having a very very small influence, but the outside factors like ground slope, wind, clubface path, AOA, etc. could make finding the balance point kinda insignificant perhaps.

Well, I for one very much enjoy your physics related posts. They're educational and I have an interest in the subject anyway, especially as it relates to the cosmos, so its all good. I'm sure I'm not alone. I also admire you being secure in your knowledge and not backing down when the trolls attack. Its very entertaining. It's why the gang here is so good though. We can have these debates, learn from each other and have a laugh at the same time without anyone getting hurt or offended. It really is an oasis of calm here.

In terms if the I&A forum, I occasionally pop in there much less frequently these days. Rats is one simile. Rabid hyenas is another. It's sad how many decent instructors have been driven away from over there - people who may have had a lot of worthy things to contribute. Unless you have been anointed with exalted status over there, you can forget having any sort of intelligent debate.

P.S. DeNin do you mean you

Went to the range today. First time hitting of grass this season. I started off horrifically. Shanks, tops, chunks. This is par for the course for me however. I find that until my muscles have loosened up a bit, it's sometimes like I have never played golf in my life. The couple hitting next to me must have thought I was a complete chopper! I wasn't too worried though and when I got going, I ended up hitting it pretty well.

There was a guy a few bays down from me who was having a really hard time. I felt bad for him. He had one of those painfully slow backswings then kind of lunged at the ball. It wasn't pretty. He was chunking everything, badly and getting very frustrated. I'm no pro but I felt like I could have had him hitting it better with a few simple changes - the main one being to loosen up...a lot. I would never offer unsolicited advice to anyone though, so I left him to it.

I then spent an hour and a half chipping, practicing three types of shot - the trap chip, high lob and the 'Runyan'. That practice was extremely productive, even if I wasn't hitting into a proper green - just some short mown grass. I was just focussing on quality of strike and distance control. I'm feeling a lot better about my chipping after that, having lost my way with it after the winter lay off.

Might try and get a game in next weekend, depending on the weather.
