(NO BUY/SELL/TRADE POSTS) Air Jordan GOLF footwear - AJ12 Low G Cherry - 12/13/22

Recommended Posts

Do people really have a big issue with non-waterproof shoes and morning rounds? I play a lot of first tee times and never have an issue with my socks getting wet, even in non-waterproof shoes. The only time I worry about waterproofing is if it's raining or we have just had a bunch of rain and the course is soaked...Dew has never gotten to me.

Β

That being said, another vote for them probably not being waterproof. Haven't worn them out in wetness yet but just from the look of them I don't think they are 100%.

I have the Jordan Flight Runner and have played in many early morning rounds and a few rain storms and never had issues with them not being waterproof. I guess some folks just want the brand new shoe look every time they play a round. I'm not worried about these in the same conditions. If you don't think they'll fit your expectations, then don't wear them in those conditions, or better yet don't buy them.

Fellas, regarding the "waterproofness" of the Jordan STs, I got this response from Nike today...

Β

"Your question in regards to the new Jordan golf shoe got sent to me and as far as we have been told the shoe does not have any sort of waterproof warranty. They do have a solid upper so they will certainly provide some water resistance. They are a pretty sweet looking pair of shoes but I'd probably recommend using them as a secondary pair of shoes and not your primary wet weather shoe."

Β

Reposting for those that missed it the first time. They do NOT come with a waterproof warranty. It doesn't mean they won't keep your feet dry, it just means that if they do get wet, Nike won't replace them.

Well that sucks.

Β

I almost always walk and rarely have a tee time later than 9 am, so there is always dew. Or there's been a frost delay and now the frost is melted. Or it rained last night which is most nights in the spring and early summer, or they just ran the sprinklers, which they do every morning.

Β

The TW14 was supposed to be an improvement on the TW13, except that they went with a perforated tongue and a set of holes on the top of the toebox for ventilation. My feet have gotten wet plenty of times through those damn ventilation holes where my TW13's never do.

Β

And Nike claims the TW14 are "waterproof". I can't imagine how porous a shoe would be that they didn't say was waterproof.

Β

Darn. I really like the J's.

Or............ If possible, wear/play the shoes on a nice sunny day. No need to worry about "waterproof".

For those saying these are expensive, actually it's becoming the norm. Look at the Under Armour release this week. $200 and $220. Footjoy lists the new DNA at $200 as well. These are no different from the other companies and looks like $200 is going to be the price floor for spiked shoes going forward.

Β

This is not an apples-to-apples comparison. For a non-waterproof golf shoe, $200 is expensive.

It has been stated already in this thread, yes $200 is a bit pricey for a non-waterproof shoe. You don't like them, why do you keep coming back to this thread? Are you trying to demean people for making this purchase?.

I know these shoes will be fine in morning dew on the course. Who really plays during a downpour or when there's standing water on the course?

Β

I have "2-year waterproof" Footjoys, and my feet still get wet in those conditions.

Has anyone actually played in these yet?

Β

Yep, pulled em from the box and played 30 holes Tuesday. I have no complaints. Would be nice if waterproof, but then again would be hotter.

Β

Pleased with purchase, very comfortable and stable.

I would hope that for $200 they would be waterproof but being a Nike fan I often sacrifice function for form

Maybe waterproof is subjective becauase my feet have NEVER gotten wet in the TW14s. And I have played in downpours, morning dew, and right after days of rain. I was disappointed in the LC2s that I'd bought because they were supposed to be waterproof but my socks kept getting wet. TW14s are tanks!!! Maybe you got a bad pair???

Oh, and for the record, if you only wear ONE golf shoe and don't rotate your shoes then you might not want to get the Jordan shoes. If you do (like I know many on here that do), then just wear them in dry conditions and you don't have to worry about getting them wet.

Β

My current rotation:

LC4s = (1) White, (1) Midnight Navy, and (1) Black IDs

TW14s = (1) Black, (1) White

Jordan ST = (1) Black/Red

Eccos = (2) Biom Hybrids (more for the casual look)

Β

That's plenty so I won't have to get my J's wet!!!!! LOL!

Β

I haven't played in the J's yet because I just got them Tuesday and haven't had the time to hit the range or play a few holes since then BUT, based on the good ol' living room range (swinging clubs inside AFTER my wife has gone to bed), I can tell you that the J's have the same solid stability as the 14s without feeling as stiff out the box (my 14s are definitely not as stiff as when they were new but they were definitely a little stiff out the box). I think the spike design and the ridged sole will make this shoe truly awesome on a course!!! I love that they used the sole of the 14s instead of the 15s.

Β

Comfort (in order) - Jordans, LC4s, Bioms, TW14s

Stability (in order) - TW14s, Jordans (based on swinging in the house), LC4s (VERY stable shoes) and then Bioms. Don't let the 3rd place finish of the LC4s fool you...this is more like a tie. They are the best all-around shoe I've worn in a long time!!!!

Can you elaborate on the differences and what you like for each? Thanks!

I can only speak to comfort and weight. ST is very nice. Don't know anything about traction yet but the remind me of a Nike Free slash Flyknit trainer.
