Hey all, any leagues in NJ, close to Morris County? It got old driving 1hr every week to PA to play 9 in a Tuesday night league.

Pretty sure Flanders or Berkshire has leagues. Not sure when the start tho

 

I think pinch brook does too. Not exactly my favorite course in the area tho.

 

Pinch Brook is a weird course. Par 65 barely 5,000 yards and God forbid you even breathe the words "executive course" to people there. You maybe shot on th spot.

 

for some reason...i find it harder than either of the flanders courses. maybe its the type of grass they use. pace of play is also slow as hell...spent almost 6 hours for a round there...on a weekday afternoon!

Had a 12:20 tee time. Walked off the course a little after 6pm. Play a hole, sit at the tee for 10-20 mins. Rinse and repeat. I played like crap that day (as did the 2 others I was playing with) because we couldn't get in a rhythm...so it wasn't like we were making short order of any of the holes. Bogeys, double bogeys, couple of super disaster holes. and we STILL had to wait that long. we got stuck behind the senior crowd with their brand new M2's, playing off the back tees and nudging the ball <150 yards forward and 30 yards left or right. they walked as a group, stood around each player while one took a shot, and didn't play ready golf in the remotest sense.

 

This isn't the first time I've had a dreadful experience there. It's the closest course to my house, and I try to run out for 9 holes in the late afternoon...usually a mistake.

They do............but they're just as old as the people he's describing, and pretty much useless. I try to play there once a week on Wednesdays after 12 to get some iron work in.I went over there Friday at 11........I was told there was a 2 hour wait. Needless to say I didn't play golf Friday.

Weird. At Berkshire the rangers were taking our cart #s down and time we started... saw them roaming around throughout the day. Flanders almost never has one.. but that sucks. I'd complain. A casual round shouldn't ever take more than 4hr 30 min.

I've only played a 4 some which had 4somes in front of it finish in 4 hours flat maybe once. Everybody on the course has to be playing fairly well, no lost balls/searching around, etc.

I played Beaver Brook on Saturday morning. Greens were punched and heavily sanded. So, putting and short game were a joke. But it was only $28 with cart on teeoff.com so you get what you pay for I guess.

 

It was a fun round, paired with three other singles. Pace of play was good. Under 4:15 for the 18 holes, teeing off at 10:00. A few good holes, a bunch of not good holes. But with the greens the way they were I really don't take any of my scores seriously (except for the 3 birdies. I'll take those!).

Monday/Tuesday - they are small tining the Blue/White courses and light top dressing

Do you know if they are doing anything at Berkshire Valley? I was going to hit up FV or BV (or PB if I'm feeling cheap) for my first round of the year on Monday. Looks like it might be BV for me.

 

Side Note: If anyone in the area is ever up for teeing up together, let me know. I've been desperate to get some more rounds in this year and its a lot easier to justify to the wife if I meeting up with someone. I haven't really met any golfers in my area yet.

PB just punched and dressed their greens early this week (Monday and Tuesday).

 

Berkshire is aerating their fairways and greens next Tuesday (4/23)

Well, the wind got me. Shot 76, 2 doubles, 2 bogeys, 2 birdies. Winds were swirling pretty bad on the back 9 and kept either being short or just long enough to have 2 putts for par.

 

Greens are in great shape tbh, but fairways were very wet
