Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

I'm sure it means nothing but I am curious as to why the packaging is slightly different from the most recent "in-store" offering.

I would have assumed it would have been the new package color from early April and on.

They stink-proofed it.

Got mine yesterday, they do have that smell that others have mentioned.

That's a new one, people smelling balls now?

Some say thats the smell of special sauce that gives it that spin separation from wedge to driver. Some say it's the smell of money. Others say the smell of industrial chemicals..nobody really knows.

So has it been established that it is NOT the smell of Kimchi?

Which BTW is IMO the secret behind one little country dominating the LPGA Tour in recent years. The mystery is why it doesn't work for men.

Hey, my Srixon loving/sponsered/playing alter ego finds that offensive.

Sincerely

I think it does. They are solid performers, but it is countered by all the Boo-yaahs, flat bills, and tight trousers of US men's elite golfers. The US and European women haven't figured out their defense yet... barring Sandra Gal, but she cannot do it alone ;)

I have been extremely skeptical about these balls and have questioned the praise they've been getting. Now I've only putted them, but I've gotta say I really like how they feel. A lot. They are much firmer than I expected, which is a good thing. I never thought I'd say this but I'm really looking forward to testing these things out.

I also don't remember anything getting the hype and demand that these balls have gotten. Pretty remarkable.

The hype and demand is probably commensurate with the performance/price ratio.

Exactly... It really is that simple.

The only reason it's blown out of proportion on here is because very few have them... therefore they play the ball vicariously thru those who have.

I don't think there is any doubt now that the KSig is a real ball

If I just bought 48 ping pong balls with dimples painted on them I am going to social-media-rage like a college kid who didn't get an A++ on their paper.

The hype is no surprise. It's like a gift if/when you are able to buy some. They are special partly because they perform well, but also because almost nobody has them and they are a great value. Why Costco is doing what they are doing with the limited supply (occasional online sales which sell out immediately, one time store inventory at limited stores which also sold out immediately) I have no idea, but it is keeping the hype going that's for sure. Hopefully some time this year they will be able to get a more consistent stock of these things.

yes that's over the last few years, but I also play 70 rounds of golf a year and my comments might not make others happy all the time but they're never multiple paragraphs long.

Well I play 140 times a year so my posts have to be longer, I reckon.

Oops, that's all I've got to say. Hate it when that happens...

I was just joking. You walked right in to that. :taunt:

I'm okay with it, no problems, it's all just talk.

I was playing some tournament golf the other day and I drilled a pro v1x into a par 3 about 4 feet away and got it to stop on a dime. I tapped in for a birdie. I wonder how the Kirkland's compare to the Titleist?

I think you should try them. You will be surprised.

What's the point of Costco selling these? They can't be making much of a profit right? They're selling them online so it's not bringing people to their store. Not complaining... just curious.

Loss Leader

Hi just received my 4 dozen from the Maryland warehouse.

To my eye there is one noticeable difference in the outer boxes versus my Nov purchases. On both the large double dozen box and the box holding the sleeves there is a Kirkland signature logo on the back. On the outer box it's above the barcode, on the inner box it's just in the lower right.

When viewed straight on the logo background of both boxes is clearly black, but when viewed from an angle the signature background of the new boxes has a blueish green background. The logo background of the old boxes is clearly matte black regardless of the angle.

I know in previous posts people mentioned differences in the logo background on the sleeves. Both my "old" and "new" sleeves appear black from straight on and blueish/green from an angle. So that difference might just be viewing angle?

Can anybody back me up on this?

"Varnishing my sailing dingy" as a euphemism is on par with "Choking Kojack" and "Punching the clown." Many of us probably varnished our dingys more than a few times when we were growing up.

4duZz KSigs delivered yesterday. Winner.

Congrats. From the sounds of it, you probably hit it pure. Any tour-level urethane ball would've stopped at a similar distance + or - a few feet.
