KBS C-Taper Bent tips

I refuse to play KBS for this very reason. Not worth it, have them replace the shafts then sell them. Move on in my opinion...

The bent tip thing is soooo annoying. The Tours are my all-time favorite wedge shaft, so I just roll with it, but for the rest of my iron shafts I have moved on to Modus and they are A+

No idea how they sell ANY $-Taper shafts for $50+ a shaft with the inevitable bent tip coming.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a new iron set with C-Tapers...guess will have to go with Modus or PX...

The bent tip issue is not unique to the KBS shifts.

In the past, I had TTDG light weight shifts and Apex 4 shifts experienced the same. Only discovered after I pulled the shaft intending to swap the shifts into other set of heads.

I guess it'll be hard to spot when not pulled. BTW , not sue if bending the hotel had anything to do with the tips being bent, or just from heavy usage .

I just recently got a set on JPX 919 Tours with C-Taper 120 Stiff shafts, hard stepped. Have a pretty quick SS (95-97 with a 7 iron). Hopefully won’t have an issue with them bending for a year or two. Absolutely love the way they feel and as a high spin player, both backspin and sidespin, these have really helped me keep the ball under control much more than my Modus 120X I had before.

I was going to hard step my buddies Tour 130s this week but when I pulled them I noticed that six of his tips were bent pretty good. Just call KBS and they'll send new ones?

This has been a theme for years now. My OCD will not allow me to consider even the graphite KBS models due to this issue.

I can also echo the bent tip issue. In my personal opinion, I think the issue is more of a concern if you have a very steep AoA + hit off mats quite a lot. I played with a random guy that was Bryson sized except he was real steep. Every one of his $-Taper shafts was tip bent substantially. He actually had a shaft snap just above the hostel mid-round on his UDI.

However, KBS performance and feel simply just works for me and many others. My C-Tapers were mostly slightly bent, almost unnoticiably so, but one what I would consider moderately severe. I attribute it to a stretch of poor swing dynamics (which ultimately led me to lower back pain) and hitting on range mats. They let me swap to the PVD finish $-Tapers and sent a full set, no fuss. One week from calling them to doorstep. Their customer service is top notch. Now that I've shallowed my AoA and become more of a "picker", I suspect I won't have another bent tip experience.

I do agree that these sort of issues shouldn't happen, but excellent customer service goes a long way to earning my repeat business. If you are capable and/or willing to learn to re-shaft/swingweight your own clubs, IMO it's far from a deal breaker.
