MG Senior Golf Ball - Tanners review

First off the MG Senior golf ball as a really nice yellow color. The MG logo looks nice and the "senior" is small and makes for a good putting alignment aid. I have just practiced with it. It is definitely firm. But, workable even for this "soft ball" fan. Nothing too harsh. Just firm. Off the irons, it feels solid and goes for me about a half a club longer. Then for the driver, when you hit it on the screws, it is clearly 10-15 yards longer than another well struck ball. I have also hit two low hooks and an old Callway warbird flew the same distance. It does have an explosive sound off the driver making you think you have killed it. Overall, for 20 bucks, I think it is a great ball. Also, the distance is not freaklessly long. So, you might actually sneak it in with your golfing buddies without them realizing you are hitting a non-conforming ball. I wish we can keep the conversation to what this ball can do for you, instead of non-conforming vs conforming. If that conversation can't be helped. Then I would say, we use aluminum bats in our local leagues, yet major league baseball does not allow it. So, why can't we have a slight edge in recreational play? When you hit the ball, you won't feel like your cheating; just hiding a few extra yards :). More to come when I hit the course!

Reminds me a bit of a Bridgestone E6. Friend of mine bought some and I didn't notice any particular yardage gain. Goes the same distance as any other ball for me.

After playing with it a few times, I would agree. Bridgestone e6 is a good comparison.

So does the e6 also go 10-15 yds longer like the MG ball ?

I've never seen any distance gains from one ball to the next.

The MG ball didn't go any longer for me than any other ball I use. To me, it had less side spin like an e6 and feel was like a e6. I didn't see the 10-15 yard promised distance gain at all.

Do they offer a money back guarantee ?

I found one of the MG Senior balls the other day. I'd known the company and bought their gloves in the past because I have huge hands and tear up any glove regardless of cost.

I hit the ball to see what it was like and it felt good, went a reasonable distance and seemed as controllable as anything else I've tried. Since I haven't played club matches, much less organized tournaments for many years, I ordered some of the balls.

Reading the web, it seems MG also makes a C4 ball they compare to a Pro V1 and some people, looking at an old thread here, seemed to have liked it.

What's been the experience among you folks?

Thanks...

It's been a good day if I don't fall out of the cart...

I haven't played the C4. But, I think it gets good reviews around here. I do like the MG Senior Ball and it's yellow color. But, there was no noticeable distance gaiin. I orginally thought there was (placebo affect?). But, after playing with it a few times, it has the same distance and feel as an E6. Maybe, it varies by ones own swing speed? Mine is pretty slow. But, I have never clocked it. Let us know how you like the MG balls.

What's the closest "yellow" ball on the market that most closely looks like the yellow on the MG senior ball ?

I'm picky when it comes to my shades of yellow lol

I have played dozens of the MG Tour C4 ball over the last few years. It is as good as any of the OEM/Brand name tour balls. It was the KSig before the KSig came available at $15/dozen. The MG Tour has been $20 a dozen for years and I am not sure why it never really caught on like the KSig. Probably due to the Costco name and customer reach. TO ME, the MG Tour is the closest feeling ball to a ProV1 that there is on the market. It feels softer to me than the KSig which to me feels closer to the ProV1x.

I would encourage anybody who really likes the performance and feel of a tour urethane ball to do yourself a favor and order a dozen.

Me too. The Duo Yellow was a joke! I shy away from Project A's yellow. It just doesn't look like a Callaway or Srixon yellow. I'd the MG Yellow was fine, like a Callaway.

Sadly they are no longer available. I really liked the MG C-4.
