Bayside and Lighthouse Sound are two of the better tracks in the area. Glen RIddle - Man O'War also good but avoid War Admiral course there.

As someone mentioned bayside or lighthouse. Although you would be lucky to play anything in 4 hours there during the summer.

Add Rum Pointe to the previously mentioned Lighthouse Sound and Man O'War. Clubhouses are neat too. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Lighthouse Sound is the most expensive, but definitely has the scenery.

Rum Pointe has some nice holes on the water as well.

Eagle's Landing is quirky, but can be an enjoyable round at a lower price than others.

As other have suggested, with your priorities, you can't go wrong with Bayside (tough Nicklaus course just over the border in DE) or Lighthouse (closest to OC, great views, fun design) or Rum Pointe (Dye and Dye design, but not as tough as their usual layouts near Assateague Island).

4 hours on a weekend may be tough, especially if including travel time to/from the courses. Most of the courses in the OC area are on the various discount websites, or offer specials on their own webpages.

I played bayside on Tuesday. There are some great holes but lots of mediocre holes as well. For me, the houses ruin the feel on a lot of the holes. You definitely need a phone gps app to play the course. Lots of trouble although I didn't find the course overly punishing if you hit the ball decent and know where not to miss. Condition was fantastic. At $109 I'm not sure it's worth the cost, but they do have at least 1 tee time a day on GolfNow and the afternoon rates are cheaper anyways.

I also played baywood greens but that is pretty far from ocean city. Much preferred baywood, classic beautiful tree lined course. The "dunes" 9 doesn't look like it's open yet but looked amazing from the road.

^^Great pics! I agree with you, your first two pictures, are the prettiest holes on the course, the rest I found kind of meh. I played on Monday for $60 with a shotgun start, so pace was rough too. I much preferred Lighthouse Sound, and would play there over Bayside 10/10 times.

Yes good picks. Both have great views. Rum Pointe is way easier in the sense you know where to go off the tee.

I am also curious why you say to avoid War Admiral. I played it and thought it was a great course...even a little better than Man O'War.

Thumbs up to Lighthouse Sound. Played it yesterday. Excellent course, but unfortunately terribly slow play as a drunken foursome of mid-20s that were carrying on and dragging a** had the entire course backed up. They were on the 8th green when I was on the first green and they let out primal hooting that could have been heard for miles.

Too nice of a course to have that bullxxxx going on. My foursome fell apart on the turn as there were literally 3 groups waiting on the 9th tee.

Other than failing to deal with that problem, the staff inside and out were all extraordinarily pleasant and accomdating.

Front 9 took nearly 3 hours, it sped up around 14-15 as the jerkoffs finished.

The other negative thing was the lack of ball marks getting fixed. You would think people pating $80-140 for a round would fix their marks.

Other than that the course was beautiful with excellent scenary to view while you were waiting. Very challenging as well. I would be scared to own houses alongside some of the holes. Nice area to start a windows replacement business.

Rum Pointe had some amazing scenery of Assateague (and some ridiculous houses along the gorgeous 16th hole. Amazing views, but it was way too easy. On the front you could miss almost anywhere without punishment. It was a course where you just swing for the fences.

I wouldn't mind playing it again, but Lighthouse Sound had way more challenges and made you put thought into your shots.

I played War Admiral Sept 2016 and they lost huge areas of grass on the fairways and greens. Played Man O War same day after lunch and it was in great shape and played a little easier which was fine due to the couple stiff drinks we had at Ruth Chris. We are going back to OC in late Sept and have free voucher for Glenn Riddle due to the horrible conditions on War Admiral last year. Conditions aside I thought War Admiral was a tougher test of golf than Man O War with a heavier emphasis on shotmaking.

Is War Admiral now open to the public? I recall only Man O War being public unless that's changed. Haven't been there in about a year though.

Yes both War Admiral and Man O War are open to public. If you are planning on playing there give a call and ask if the course recovered yet, Im heading down there in 2 weeks and will give an update.
