Equivalent to Ping CFS (stiff) shafts

I am looking to re-shaft a set of irons and am looking for some suggestions on steel shafts that would be roughly equivalent to the Ping CFS stiff shafts. I have always liked the feel of the CFS (stiff) shafts at about the 7 iron (a few years ago I bought a Ping i20 7 iron which had the CFS stiff). I don't want to re-shaft with the CFS shafts themselves because they are descending weight, and I would prefer constant weight shafts. I am thinking something like a KBS Tour R+ would be a good equivalent (since it is 115 g, and the CFS is 109 trimmed, so shoudl be around 115 g). Any thoughts or other suggestions? Thanks.

KBS Tour V -- soft-step the stiff or hard-step the regular, depending on whether a bit stiffer or a bit softer is desired from the CFS. Tour V's are about a half flex stouter than CFS's.

I played the i20 back in the day and the Srixons 545 in a KBS Tour for a few months, they do feel similar now that I think about it.

 

I agree with the previous poster, the KBS family would be your closest match.

I would think that the Nippon 1050 would be a pretty close replacement to the CFS shafts. Raw weight is very close, the 1050 in stiff is 109.5 grams, but remember that the Nippon (NS Pro not Modus) raw lengths are shorter than most other steel shafts, so less trimming and hence less weight trimmed off. I remember hitting the I20's and I25's indoor with CFS stiff, and comparing them with my irons at the time which had the NS Pro 1050 in stiff. They both felt pretty similar to me, the CFS may have been even slightly higher launch and spin. Also the NS Pro's are constant weight. I know that they are not really easy to find, but if you want them you can get them.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the CFS aren't descending weight...they are constant

CFS are descending weight. KBS Tour R+ will be a little heavier, but otherwise a pretty good match flex wise. I'm not sure about Tour V.

Ping steel shafts are manufactured by Nippon. My suggestion would go to Nippon 1050gh but I've not played either of those shafts long enough to provide a definite comparison

I believe the only Ping shafts made by Nippon are the AWT 2.0's. Prior to that all the Ping steel shafts were made by True Temper (as far as I know).

Are you sure? I thought FEMCO shafts, including KBS, were made in Asia (Taiwan). Ping clubs I've seen w/CFS shafts mention shaft manufacturing in USA.

Could of swore i had a CFS shaft that had true temper logo on it down by tip...

 

Have KBS TOURS in reg, reg + and stiff....to me reg feels most like it...r+ feels firmer

yeah to me it feels like completly different shaft.....but not everyone feels the same

 

Tour v much lower spinning while cfs spins quite a bit...CFS fits me better....i need spin, CFS just felt softer all way through

 

Kbs shafts in general dont fit me so well, feel great when catch one but for some reason harder for me to time it

DG SL is totally different from CFS. Not even close. For one, DG SL has a very stiff tip and low balance point. CFS has neither of these features. Also CFS is descending weight but DG SL is constant weight.
