MD, VA, WV, DE advice needed

As some may know, my wife and I are on a quest to play one awesome course in every state and I was hoping for advice on Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Delaware

 

Any help would be appreciated

Delaware:

If traveling I95; White Clay Creek at DE Park.

If down the beach; Baywood Greens, Bayside.

If you can get on a private course; Wilmington CC.

 

Maryland:

If traveling I95; Bulle Rock.

If in Ocean City; Lighthouse Sound.

MD: If you are travelling I-70 towards Frederick, MD, Musket Ridge is a great course. Just off I-270 towards DC are Worthington Manor (frequent US Open qualifier) or Whiskey Creek. Worthington/Whiskey are about 10 minutes apart. Both are about 30 minutes away from Musket Ridge.

 

If you end up on I-95 as mentioned, Bulle Rock is probably your best bet.

Those are all good recommendations. If you are taking a trip to specifically knock off courses in those states, you could easily shoot down Rte 15 from Frederick and play Stonewall, Raspberry Falls, Bull Run or Westfields in VA without having to change hotels. They're all high end public, and have been listed as top courses in the state at various times. Potomac Shores is fairly new, but highly regarded. It's a little farther into VA but still in the DC metro area and within an hour of Frederick,( provided you time your trip between the morning and afternoon rush hours. )

 

From any of these it would be an easy trip into the part of WV where their top courses are located.

 

Most of the top rated courses in VA are farther south and/or west. If you're not worried about adding travel, you can find those by looking at best in state ranking.

How far are you looking to go into VA? Spring Creek is right off the interstate and is definitely worth playing. Great layout and conditions are top notch.

 

Bulle and Whiskey in MD are also great choices.

Bulle Rock may not be around much longer, take advantage while you can, its a great track that is a bit over priced.

I-270 corridor has a bunch of very good to great courses...Whiskey Creek, Musket Ridge, MD National, Worthington Manor are all good.

 

Depending where you're coming from, a fun trip might be playing in Maryland on your way to Delaware, driving through Charlottesville, VA and ending up at the Greenbrier in West Virginia.

I don't know how far you're wanting to go but I can't imagine going to Virginia and not playing The Cascades (at The Homestead) near Hot Springs, VA. From there, you're a stones throw from White Sulphur Springs,WV and can play The Old Course. And again, I can't imagine a golf trip to WV without visiting the Greenbrier.

Agree with Primland. Spring Creek in gordonsville VA is a good one. Kinloch outside of Richmond is a fabulous course and place. One of top courses in the country. Hard to get on.

if you're doing it Via I-95, I'd say any of these.

 

DE: White Clay Creek

MD: Bulle Rock

VA: Potomac Shores, Laurel Hills or Mattaponi Springs.

 

If going down the coast:

 

DE: Baywood Greens

MD: Lighthouse Sound

VA: Bay Creek

It has been too long since I last played in West Virginia too make any recommendation.
